Back in October, the teaser trailer for Amazon Prime's Invincible animated series gave us our first look at the highly anticipated adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comic book of the same name. Invincible features a star-studded cast led by Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson, J.K. Simmons as his father, and Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson.
That's only the tip of the iceberg, though. We already knew the cast would be rounded out by Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Chris Diamontopoulos, Khary Payton, Zachary Quinto, Malese Jow, and Grey Greffin. That's a lot of star power in one series, and it's now gained even more.
During a virtual panel held during this weekend's CCXP 2020 pop culture con, more of the cast was revealed, and there are some major new additions. Joining the already robust ensemble are A-listers Ezra Miller and Mahershala Ali. Both actors are already well-known amongst super hero fans as Miller plays The Flash in the DCEU while Ali will play Blade in an upcoming Marvel movie.
Miller will voice D.A. Sinclair while Ali will voice Titan. Other additions to the cast include Clancy Brown as Damien Darkblood, Djimon Hounsou as the Martian Emperor, Jeffrey Donovan as Machine Head, Nicole Byer as Fiona and Vanessa (new characters), Jon Hamm as Steve (another new character), and Jonathan Groff as Rick Sheridan.
The way this cast is shaping up, Invincible feels like a must-watch animated series. Unfortunately, we have to wait a bit longer to see it as the show is set to premiere in 2021.
INVINCIBLE is an adult animated superhero series that revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who’s just like every other guy his age — except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems. From Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead. Coming to Prime Video in 2021.
