Robert Kirkman Weighs In On Those SPIDER-MAN Cameo Rumors In INVINCIBLE Season 2 Part 2

Invincible comic co-creator Robert Kirkman doesn't flat out state that the rumored Spider-Man crossover isn't happening but he does through some cold water on everyone's hopes and dreams.

Rumors have been swirling for quite some time regarding a potential Spider-Man cameo in Invincible season 2. They stem from the fact that at this point in the original comic's story, Mark Grayson makes a trip to an alternate reality and meets Spider-Man and a few other Avengers characters.

Spectacular Spider-Man voice actor Josh Keaton has also teased that he has a role in the upcoming season but declined to provide any additional details, further stoking fan speculation.

But will that actually occur in the animated series, given the complicated nature of character rights and licensing?

Online scooper @MyTimeToShine, recently stirred the rumor mill up anew but we now have word from IP creator, Robert Kirkman.

Said Kirkman, "Would that we could pull the powers of Amazon and Disney and Marvel and everybody together! Wouldn’t that be an amazing thing? But I wouldn’t count on it. And that’s not a tease."

Kirkman also addressed the potential of a crossover back in October, calling it "tricky" to pull off.

While Kirkman is (seemingly) putting a damper on the possibility of a Spider-Man appearance this season, he did bring a new clip from Season 2 Part 2, which you can view below.

Invincible Season 2 Part 2 will return on on March 14. Four episodes remain in the show's second season, which initially premiered on November 3, 2023, before going on a midseason hiatus.

Kirkman previously stated that Prime Video employed this tactic to cut down on the time between seasons, however, fans have been less than thrilled with having episodes spaced out in this fashion.

Invincible Season 2 Synopsis:
Based on the groundbreaking comic book by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the story revolves around 18-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age—except his father is (or was) the most powerful superhero on the planet. Still reeling from Nolan’s betrayal in Season 1, Mark struggles to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear - that he might become his father without even knowing it.

Starring Steven Yeun, with Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, Chris Diamantopoulos, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson, Seth Rogen, and J.K. Simmons.

Joining the Season 2 cast are Sterling K. Brown, Peter Cullen, Rob Delaney, Calista Flockhart, Phil LaMarr, Luke MacFarlane, Tatiana Maslany, Scott McNairy, Jay Pharoah, Ella Purnell, Tim Robinson, Ben Schwartz, Rhea Seehorn, Lea Thompson, Paul F. Tompkins, Shantel VanSanten, and more.

The executive producers are Kirkman, Catherine Winder, David Alpert, Simon Racioppa, Margaret M. Dean, Rogen, and Evan Goldberg, and the co-executive producers are Helen Leigh and Walker.

Never watched Invincible but, isn't it like a major R-rated-type show? Raunchy with language? If so, no way Marvel or Sony would let Spiderman in that type of show. Well, Sony probably would because they're Sony.

@lazlodaytona - It is but it's not exactly like it hasn't happened in the comics. The rumor was that it was an animated Spider-man that Sony owns the rights to. That said I highly doubt it's happening but would be pleasantly surprised

@lazlodaytona - For sure! There are some fun things in the crossover. Spider-man hounds Invincible for being too rough, Invincible makes fun of Spider-man for his name. And then when Spider-man takes Invincible to Avengers Tower Invincible guesses all the Avengers names which is pretty funny.

@Evansly - It's almost like a Johnny Lawrence and Danielle LaRusso partnership in Cobra Kai!

@Evansly - freaking perfect how they had characters from all three films slowly get introduced during the seasons. Rumors are they're gonna try to get Hillary Swank for the final season. I dang sure hope they do!
Plus, several credible sites are practically saying it's 100% Jackie Chan (and possibly Jaden too - which, I thought that remake was actually one of the few good ones) will have an important role in the film as well.

Would it have killed you to not put the spoilers, even if a rumor, in the title of the article? Even Wilding did that
