BLACK PANTHER Star Danai Gurira Is Officially Leaving THE WALKING DEAD After Season 10

The Walking Dead will soon be totally unrecognisable as it's been revealed today that Danai Gurira's Michonne is set to depart the AMC series after making only a handful of appearances in season ten...

Since starring in Black Panther, Danai Gurira's career has really taken off (she's also a busy activist and works on a lot of stage plays) so this new probably won't surprise you: she's The Walking Dead's latest casualty.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress is leaving the long-running AMC drama during its tenth season. She boarded the series during season three and quickly became a fan-favourite character (just like her comic book counterpart). Now, she's signed a deal to return in a limited capacity and that means we'll only see her in "a handful of episodes."

It's said that it's "likely" she could appear in any or all of those TV movies revolving around Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes but she's clearly ready to move on.

This is going to shake The Walking Dead up in a major way and the show is quickly becoming unrecognisable compared to a few years ago. After all, it's already lost big names like Lincoln, Lauren Cohan, and Chandler Riggs, and it seems as if it will now become the Daryl and Carol show. Sounds...interesting, right?

@L0RDbuckethead - tell me about it. I loved this show the first few seasons but it's been slipping each and every season. Some seasons mildly improve then turn to shit again.

Sadly, Walking Dead is just the most recent and blatant example of what happens when a great show outlives its welcome and becomes just an obvious cash grab from the network bleeding every last penny from a once great franchise.

@Dart - Totally agree, man.

While there are things that have been redeemable in the last few seasons, I pretty much mentally gave up on the show after s06-s07 time. Around the time Negan killed Glenn and Abraham. Sorry, spoiler, if anyone else is reading this.

The show really died along with Andrea at the end of season 3.

@L0RDbuckethead - I hung around for the conclusions of the Negan arc, but then after all the news about everyone leaving I just couldn't do it anymore. I took about a 2 year break after the Governor arc was over. When Negan was announced I binged to catch up and watched the Negan seasons in real time. But it was a struggle. Now I just haven't the heart to continue. I never saw Fear the Walking Dead, no interest in that either. Coming from a guy who loved the zombie genre most of my life, I'm fully burned out on it now.

@Dart - Yeah, I watched the first season and a half of FTWD, I just couldn't get into it. I have heard that it's gotten immensely better since then though.

Damn shame. She was one of the last shining spots for the show.

I was already planning to quit on this show after Rick was out, but now there's 100% no reason to continue watching.

Thats not watchable at all.

@dracula - me too, I stopped back in Season 5 when the show was already sinking, all this news I keep hearing just reaffirms that I made the right decision back then.
