"I can't wait to get to Michonne and The Governor," Darabont told MTV Splash when asked about who from the comic books he'd like to introduce on the TV show.

"I'm champing at the bit to get to that part of that narrative. Of course, you've got to earn it. We've got to lead up to it with what we're doing. But I really can't wait to get those characters in play. And Tyrese too..."

"I think all the people who fans of the comic know and love will be in play here as we go," he finished by promising.

Michonne is a mysterious member of the survivor group, and a major character within the series. Armed with a katana and the deadly skills to compliment, Michonne is an effective and crucial defender of the survivors. She first appeared on the road in an unknown distance away from The Prison. She was clothed under a hood and carried two shackled zombies (later revealed to be her best friend and her boyfriend) to keep the zombies away.

The Govenor's real name is Philip. When the dead began to rise, Philip gathered together a large number of survivors, numbering almost forty, and established a semi-secure settlement in Woodbury, clearing and guarding almost four city blocks, upon which he declared himself "Governor" (as president "sounded too silly"). Upon his introduction, the Governor appears to be a fair and strong leader, but it quickly becomes clear that he is at best, Machiavellian, and at worst, insane.

Tyreese was a civilian who initially survived the mysterious undead Apocalypse that has swept the planet. A prominent member of the survivors, he was additionally a central character within the series. He was portrayed as a strong survivor who often acted as an unofficial de-facto leader of the group after Rick.
