AMC has released a sneak peek from February's return installment of The Walking Dead, which seemingly picks up right where we left off at the end of last night's extended midseason finale.

In it, Rick suggests the crew head back to Alexandria, as he suspects it's only a matter of time before Negan arrives looking for Daryl - but, Jesus then chimes in with a better idea. Yes, as the promo for the episode confirms, a first meeting between Rick and Ezekiel is indeed in the cards.

The Walking Dead will return for the second half of its seventh season on Sunday, February 12.

You mean to tell me Jesus (the TV show incarnation) knew about King Ezekiel all of this time but didnt bother to introduce Rick to the Kingdom until now? All this time Alexandria was without beds and struggling for food or to find things to produce for the Saviors and Jesus didnt bother to say "yanno Rick, I know youre in bit of a jam because of me, but I know some folks that can help you out because we cant". I know, I know, possible nitpicking, but come on now. They dedicate an hour and thirty minute episodes towards character development but leave these plot holes big enough for an 18 wheeler to drive through.

@BlackHulk - Ummmm I can only assume that King Ezekiel does not want to get personally involved with other communities to keep his people safe from Negan......so maybe just maybe Jesus was obeying his wishes.

But I do see your point of view...

@JoeMomma29 - Good assumption, but if King Ezekiel were that cautious of outsiders, he likely wouldnt have welcomed Carol and Morgan with open arms while knowing little to nothing about them. You are describing the Oceanside community very much, but according to King Ezekiel himself, he welcomes anyone who can contribute to the community in some way, and most importantly likely wouldnt have required Ricks group to kill the Saviors for a few weeks worth of food. Just seems like Jesus is somewhat of a manipulative character who cannot be trusted and the only reason he is introducing Rick to the Kingdom because he knows Negan will come to Hilltop and tear it to the ground looking for Daryl.

@BlackHulk - Well Ezekiel welcome people but keep in mind he watched them like flies on Shit..........hence why Carol could not even sneak out....they were watching her the whole time steal supplies etc...

This way Ezekiel can weed out spies or people with bad intentions.

I Personally think Jesus is to be trusted, I think though he will use Rick and the other groups to over throw Negan.....but I think he is doing this for himself and the ones he cares for in the long run.

@BlackHulk - It's not just TV Jesus-logic - comic Jesus did the same thing in withholding that he knew Ezekiel.

Like @JoeMomma29 said, Jesus was probably just looking out for Ezekiel.

I will say that one difference between the show and comic, though it seems small, is that comic Jesus told Rick (after he offered to take out Negan) that he and some of the Hilltop guards will help, and that he wouldn't want Rick to face [Negan] alone. In the TV show Jesus makes it seem like nobody at the Hilltop but himself can really help.

So that leaves TV Jesus a bit shorthanded in asking 2 communities to fight this burden for him, and IMO makes it a bit more plausible he didn't mention Ezekiel/bring him in. I mean look at him in the show - he already feels slightly guilty with just Rick's group after they lost Glenn & Abraham. He'd only feel worse with another group/community on his conscience.

@BlackHulk Guess Jesus simply didn't feel the need to involve Ezekiel until he was certain Rick wanted to fight back. Up until that point he obviously assumed - like everyone else did - that Rick was well and truly broken and was going to play ball with Negan.
