Shock News As Andrew Lincoln Departs THE WALKING DEAD; Will Only Appear In Six Episodes Of Season 9

Well, it's fair to say none of us could have seen this coming! It's been revealed today that Andrew Lincoln is set to leave The Walking Dead during season nine and we know who the show's new lead will be.

It's been revealed today that the end is nigh for Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead because Andrew Lincoln is walking away from the AMC series. Collider reveals that he'll only appear in six episodes of the sixteen episode season, so it clearly won't waste much time in getting rid of him, news which is sure to leave fans reeling, especially as he's one of the main reasons to actually tune in at this point.

It sounds like it was Lincoln's choice to leave and AMC is now looking to fill the void by offering Norman Reedus a considerable amount of money to take over as The Walking Dead's lead star moving forward.

With the signs pointing to Lauren Cohan also leaving the show this year, it's clear that the show could very well wind up being unrecognisable now. With Chandler Riggs' departure causing such an uproar, don't be surprised if ratings plummet once again because of this but it is, of course, possible that fans will tune in to see what becomes of these two characters...after all, they're probably gonna die!

What do you think will become of Rick Grimes? Death by walker or Negan? Share your thoughts below.

This is another reason why killing off Carl was a mistake. The show now needs to end, because if everyone can die what is the point in watching this show? I understand it is a zombie apocalypse, but some characters Need to be unkillable or viewers will stop watching it.

Sad, but they might as well end it. It's already dead in the water after last season.

This was bound to happen eventually when the show just seems aimless and continuing for the sake of continuing. If you don't feel like you're moving toward a conclusion by season 8 of a serialized show like this, what the hell are you doing?

@BIGBMH - It was conceived as a zombie movie that never ends. It was supposed to run like a soap opera. Unfortunately, if you don't, or can't, follow the comic, the show goes right off the rails. With the current team all dead in the next season, they won't be able to run much longer.

@SisterSunday52 - Interesting. I wasn't aware that it was supposed to have that soap structure. That's definitely not for me, but I guess it could work.
