The cast of AMC's next series in
The Walking Dead universe is starting to fill out. Variety is reporting that Nico Tortorella has been cast in the upcoming, still untitled spinoff series, which
is slated to air in 2020.
While the new series
will focus on "two young female protagonists," the show will revolve around the first generation of kids to come of age during the zombie apocalypse. Tortorella will reportedly play a character named Felix, described as
"as an honorable man of his word who isn’t afraid to fight for others’ safety and acceptance."
Tortorella currently stars in the TV Land series
Younger and will continue on that show in addition to starring in the new
Walking Dead series. Tortorella joins the previously announced cast of Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Aliyah Royale and Annet Mahendru. It was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that
Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts will helm the pilot.
While the new world of
The Walking Dead won't debut until spring 2020, AMC already released the first teaser. It doesn't actually show footage, but we did get to meet some of the new characters and get a glmipse of some intriguing concept art.
