Following a brief teaser, AMC (via FearHQ.com) has shared some new promo stills for arguably the most intriguing of the upcoming The Walking Dead spin-off shows, Dead City.

The images spotlight once bitter enemies turned uneasy allies, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), as they find themselves traversing the now zombie-infested streets of New York City.

In the recent The Walking Dead series finale, "Rest In Peace," Negan finally apologized for brutally murdering Maggie's husband Glen all those years earlier. Though Maggie acknowledged that the former leader of the Saviours had changed and thanked him for saving her son, Herschel, she made it clear that she couldn't forgive him for what he took from her.

So, how and why do they wind up taking a trip to the Big Apple together? That hasn't been disclosed yet, but it is worth noting that Dead City takes place a few years after the events of the series finale.

Plus, Morgan has previously indicated that Negan might revert to his "old ways," which could suggest that this alliance will only be temporary!

"This spinoff is going to take place a couple of years after the Walking Dead finale, and here’s the problem with those couple of years – we don’t see what happens to these characters," Morgan told Deadline. "Negan has an opportunity to fall into his old ways in these missing years. He is very much a creature of habit, and he knows how to survive. When he was with our group there was another way to survive, and he tried to adapt to those ways. I’m worried whatever happens in these two years away from our group, what he will become and who he will become. And so, when Maggie and he are together again, the chance that Negan isn’t who we see as when we leave him here on the show."

Are you guys looking forward to Dead City? Do you think Negan will ultimately return to his old Lucille-swinging ways? Drop us a comment down below.

I get why Morgan does this. He lives halfway up NY state and can literally take the train from his tiny country town to Manhattan in the morning and go to work and go home when he's done. Plus I'm sure a respectable paycheck. I get it. But I'm sure he has accepted he's trading creative fulfillment for those comforts.

I stopped watching after they killed Rick's son. Can someone summarize why Maggie hasn't killed this guy yet? If he's like switched sides, then why is she working with him? Why is she even spending any time around him?

@Crtdacct2say - hard to explain in a comment. But they spent 2 long seasons having her go from wanting to kill him, to hating him, to tolerating him, to being grateful that he saved her son. That's where the finale left it. It's a mutual respect.

More than he respects her and she just sees his value. It had been some 5 years or so since Glenn died and Negan showed true value to the group since then

@Crtdacct2say - I quit watching well before you, but let me take a stab at this: (1) they ran out of plots & (2) they killed off too many of the other characters people cared about = so you get this.
