THE WALKING DEAD Season 9 Will Have A "Western Vibe" According To New Showrunner; First Image Released
Season 9 of The Walking Dead will see the debut of Angela Kang as showrunner, & she teases a "Western vibe" for the series during an interview. To back that up, we also have a pic of Michonne on horseback.
The upcoming ninth season of AMC's The Walking Dead is sure to be an eventful one. Not only are we set to see the departure of our main character Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), but a new showrunner is coming on board, and it sounds like she'll be taking the series in some very interesting directions.
While speaking to EW, Angela Kang outlined her approach:
"We’ll explore what happened as man made objects and structures break down. Infrastructure like roads and bridges are changing and crumbling. And we’ll also explore what happens as resources are getting low. There’s a fun Western vibe that has emerged. We are going into a period where a lot of the things that we’ve seen in previous seasons have broken down, so they’ve got these horses and carriages that are being drawn around instead of cars. Things are lit with oil lamps. People are using different kinds of weaponry. There’s a real grittiness to it that I think will be fun and fresh for the viewers.”
In keeping with the Western vibe, the first offcial season 9 still features Michonne leading a group of unfamiliar survives from horseback. Has the sword-wielding fan-favourite spilt away from the main group?
Perhaps we'll find out more when the first trailer for The Walking Dead season 9 debuts at SDCC later this month.
