TV Guide has the scoop on where things pickup in the first new episode of The Walking Dead in February:

If you've read the comics, you can probably guess — especially if you paid attention to the trailer. Rick and Carl will be on their own for a while, with Carl really needing to take a leadership role as his father grieves the potential loss of Judith and the prison. "It's going to hit [Rick] in a way that we haven't seen before," executive producer Scott Gimple says. "If it's just the two of them, [Carl is] going to have to step up quite a bit because circumstances are wildly different and a lot will depend on him in terms of them just surviving. They don't have an awesome, dual-layer fence and brick buildings to hide behind. They're out in the world.

I'm current on the comic book, but my memory is a little fuzzy. What exactly happens with Rick and Carl before the group arrives at [spoiler]? Help me out in the comments section.

The Walking Dead will return in February.

I personally still think that Judith is alive. I have a theory where Tyrese has Judith. When Tyrese is running it looks like he's holding something in front of him with both hands.

It's good to see Carl stepping up after what happened to the prison. Also i still wanted to find out as to who it was that was feeding the rats to the walkers and leaving a dissected squirrel. I'm hoping that will be addressed this season.

Rick, Carl, Andrea, Sophia, Glenn, Maggie, Dale, and Michonne regroup at the farm. It's there that they cross paths with Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene. They decide to make their way to Washington DC, and stumble upon the Hunters (a group of cannibals that threaten Rick's group). The survivors torture and kill the hunters before reaching the Alexandria Safe Zone on the outskirts of Washington.

Here comes 'Emo Rick' again.
This time he sounds like he'll be even more depressing.

To add to what Canon108 posted, we will find out that the person feeding the rats to the walkers is the oldest girl, and eventually she and her sister will be the "twins" from the comic book and what happened to them (if you read it you know).

Excellent gif MightyZeus, methinks you are right about who has Judith.

Honestly, I'm hoping Judith is dead and I hope the bloody infant carrier was their way of doing that without showing her eaten by walkers. They've toned it down A LOT from the comics, in which she dies with Lori during the prison raid.

I thought they went to Hershel's farm. I'm sure everyone will regroup there, but it would be nice to see everyone on their own for a while.

Because of this show, I had to read the comics and seriously, they F*U*C*K*E*D UP andrea as a character. In the comics, I like her, but hated her the most in the show, glad that bitch died. Can't wait for Negan and hopefully, they won't change glenns fate, hehehehehehe!

I'm with kevberg. Enough of the boohoo drama Rick. Like Andrea they have just been sucking as characters. Where's "don't mess with me or I'll kick your ass" Rick? The writing has to get better on this. The eye bleeding zombies/ virus thing that ONLY affected the prison people, fu**ing terrible. You might as well bring back Lori. Awful.

Honestly, hate to say it, but this needs to stick to the comics and have Judith killed off. No place or time for a baby!

This is why they should have killed Lori at this mid season finale. We already saw Rick turn into a boring crybaby and we already saw Carl step up and tell him what for. Now we gotta see it again.

oh, and SuperCat that first Gif almost killed me, man!
