BUFFY Actress Michelle Trachtenberg Says Joss Whedon Was "Not Allowed In A Room Alone" With Her On Set

Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Michelle Trachtenberg has added some disturbing new details to yesterday's Instagram post, suggesting that Joss Whedon may have behaved highly inappropriately on set...

By MarkCassidy - Feb 11, 2021 07:02 PM EST

Charisma Carpenter's shocking social media post about her "traumatising" experiences working with Joss Whedon on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel was met with messages of support from several of her costars, and when Buffy Summers actress Sarah Michelle Gellar weighed in, Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn) re-blogged her Insta-story with some disturbing details of her own.

Now, the actress has expanded on her original comments by making even more distressing implications.

Trachtenberg's original post read, "Thank you [Gellar] for saying this. I am brave enough now as a 35 year old woman.... To repost this. Because. This must. Be known. As a teenager. With his not appropriate behavior... Very. Not. Appropriate." She then went back and added, "The last. Comment I will make on this. Was. There was a rule. Saying. He's not allowed in a room alone with Michelle again."

Michelle, who was 15 when she joined the cast of Buffy during Season 5, doesn't elaborate, but her comments obviously suggest that Whedon behaved in a highly inappropriate manner, and that other members of the cast and crew were aware of it.

Whedon has yet to respond to any of these allegations, but we seriously doubt this is going to be the end of it, and wouldn't be at all surprised if more actors from his past projects come forward. We'll keep you updated.

Whedon’s career is so, so dead now, it’s not even funny.

@Nerdman3000 - oh yeah. There are some things I have to question but yeah now even people from his shows are saying stuff so yeah no way around it. No way there will be anymore Whedon shows after The Never (Really wont be surprised if that is cancelled)

@Zsouza13 - i agree with your opinions on QS but I dont think its that important in this whole thing.

@Zsouza13 -

Really not the place or time for this. Like really insensitive and inappropriate.

@Zsouza13 - has nothing to do with anything important.

@Zsouza13 - Of all things, I'm not sure that one is entirely his fault. Marvel probably wanted him killed off anyway because of Quicksilver in the Fox movies.

@Nerdman3000 - It was never funny.

But what Trachenberg is suggesting without putting words on it is actually FAR worse than everything Ray Fisher and Charisma Carpenter have already said (and Carpenter's allegations were already a lot to digest).

It's not even about Whedon's reputation and his career anymore. He might actually face criminal charges.

Whedon always came off as an asshole to me in interviews. With all this information coming to light, I guess I was right.

Again?

Wonder what happened first?

Obviously some [frick]ed up stuff.

Seriously though, I get not saying anything before now. Risking career and maybe not feeling ready to come out with it, but literally the entire cast of Buffy, Angel and Firefly have spent the last 20 years doing nothing but praising, not only his talent as a writer (which he does have) but also praising him as a great guy. It is why he had such a god reputation. Like the shows have so many great things about it, did every conversation have to go back to Whedon?

@dracula - That's the key word. Again.

This post lacks the specificityof Ms. Carpenter's post, yet way more specific and potentially damning than Fisher's.

She's basically saying that something happened when they were in a room together. Something that people did not want to happen again.

If it's what we are all thinking, then Whedon is over. Weinstein over.

@GwenLantern - Whatever Whedon did to Michelle needs to come out, for her sake and that of other young actresses. Hollywood is a dangerous place for children and young adults. Anyone who has preyed on the vulnerable must be rooted out and made an example to deter others.

@dracula - IKR, what happens if all of them are lying? Does that mean everyone's career is done? News outlets and websites dont take down articles until they are threatened with a lawsuit. Guess either way Whedons career is over (truth or not)

@Skrull - I get what you're saying but it is on Trachtenberg as to how much she wants to publicly disclose. For some it is empowering to tell their story and others it is re-traumatizing, sometimes depending on where they are with it personally at the time.

dracula
dracula - 2/11/2021, 7:54 PM
@Godzilla2000Zer - Before now, Carpenter was the only known story so if there is any more could be anyone. I think there were some rumors of Nathan Fillion having to step in during something on Firefly

@dracula - Yeah not looking for Joss but I have believed Ray Fisher for a year now despite not liking how he handled it but this a shame because I liked Joss's work

@Godzilla2000Zer - yeah shame that this stuff happened (some things I question, not about the what happened but about the time since then) Still gonna like his shows, will probably do a rewatch of them soon, but yeah this is [frick]ed up. She doesn't say what happened, but considering she was a kid, yeah there is a much higher standard for how she should be treated and the fact that he wasnt allowed alone with her is enough to believe it was too far
