ARROW: What Does Roy Harper's Return Mean For Team Arrow And Diggle Moving Forward?

With actor Colton Haynes confirming his return to Arrow season 7 as Roy Harper once more, what could this mean for New Team Arrow, Diggle and Oliver?

Oliver Queen has been shifting around when placing new members into Team Arrow, however, with the events that have unfolded in recent episodes, it seems Oliver could be abandoning NTA and Diggle for good.

So for those who have kept up with the show you would know that almost everyone on the show has had some issue with Oliver and they've basically all kind of abandoned him. For the past few seasons Oliver has gotten used to having a team backing him up, or to the least having Diggle, however, Oliver doesn't have that same luxury anymore. Of course you would think that the writers would just allow Oliver and Diggle to reconcile their issues but it appears they've written so that Diggle moves on as he is now working with his wife at ARGUS. New Team Arrow have also formed their own team, meaning Oliver is well and truly alone for the rest of this season.

Now it seems curious that Colton Haynes is coming back to reprise his role in season 7 as a series regular right after all these events unfolded. Perhaps the writers are hinting that this is truly the end of Oliver working with Diggle, Rene, Curtis and Dinah? If so, who will be partnering up with Oliver next season and are they going to be a permanent team for the rest of the show? We also do know that Sara Lance is confirmed for the finale of season 6 meaning she might be helping Oliver take down Ricardo Diaz and whoever Diaz has on his payroll so it does seem like Oliver is alone for the rest of this season. Of course that doesn't mean we won't ever see Oliver and Diggle working together, just that the possibility of them not being partners again seems all too plausible.

Let's briefly talk about Felicity, the upcoming episode's promo which is titled 'Fundamentals' revealed Felicity thinks she and Oliver need to take some space. Some people have said that Oliver could be hallucinating the conversation as he will be exposed to vertigo in the episode. However, the description of the episode does hint at a fight between Felicity and Oliver. The description goes as follows:

In his darkest place yet, Oliver wonders if he has failed at everything - being a father, a mayor and a hero. His frustration rising, Oliver lashes out at Felicity and William. A surprising visit from an old friend has Oliver questioning his next move.

Going by the description, it's possible that Oliver lashing out at Felicity could cause quite a heated fight, leading to Felicity perhaps deciding that she needs some space and that would mean that she could be leaving him as well. There is also the question of maybe the writers are bringing the official Green Arrow family onto the show with Roy Harper as Arsenal and Laurel Lance as Black Canary.

The possibility of bringing on the official Green Arrow family from the comics is too close now for us not to consider it. After all, this show has strayed away from the comics for far too long and this could be their chance to bring this show closer to the Green Arrow lore. With Black Canary, there's the possibility of bringing back E-1 Laurel Lance with the lazarus pits that we recently learned about in the episode 'Thanatos Guild' or perhaps by the end of this season, E-2 Laurel Lance could finalise her redemption arc by double-crossing Ricardo Diaz and joining Team Arrow.

What do you think though? Personally, I do think that it's the perfect time to incorporate the Green Arrow family into season 7 and for the rest of shows run. Especially as "New Team Arrow" have really been annoying and dislikeable this entire season. Let us know down in the comments what you think and let's talk more Arrow!
