To promote the third season of
Arrow in the UK, entertainment site Digital Spy caught up with former
Teen Wolf star Colton Haynes where they brought up the fact that Roy Harper is yet to adopt a superhero alias.
"Our producer Marc Guggenheim has mentioned to me that Arsenal loses an arm in the comic book and he is a bad drug addict." Whether the character follows this route remains to bes seen but Haynes believes that his character will be a mix up between the Red Arrow and Arsenal mantle's. He teased that further nicknames could be given to the character during the third season;
"I'm not sure if they're going to stick to the comic books, but there will be a running joke of what my name is going to be. They're going to call me 'Speedy' or 'Oracle' - that will be a fun little joke throughout the season."
Roy may be free of the Mirakuru drug when the show picks up following the events of season 2, but Haynes believes that
"there's always a possibility for it to come back" adding,
"There are always different mutations of different drugs that can come and start problems with the team. I have a feeling that will happen this season."
Arrow isn't just famed for action and adventure, the show also revolves around many complicated relationships which are not going to run smoothly.
"I think the relationships in the new season are going to be of the exact same calibre as the action has been through the entire series." Haynes says, to the disappointment of some fans, who criticize the romantic elements of the narrative. According to Haynes,
"It has taken time for the relationships to be solid - now it's as much about the relationships as it is about the action. There will be a few new love interests that come in through season three, that may cause a few love triangles. There will be a few fights over jealousy!"
Onto spin off show,
The Flash, which will have a
'massive' crossover with
Arrow before the end of the year. Teasing an appearance on the Grant Gustin lead spin off, Haynes thinks that
"It would be nice to have a few characters [from our show] help it along the way, but I think they're going to try and make their characters solid before they add any of us in. "A few people from their show and ours could create a mini Justice League. That could be a fun idea to throw around."
Finally, when asked about a rivalry with ABC show
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Haynes revealed that Chloe Bennett (Skye) is one of his best friends, adding
"We always share a joke over text about articles written and number of views." I'm sure I know who is winning the text battle!
