If you're familiar with the DC Animated movies you'll know doubt of seen Jay Oliva's work-- he's the director that brought The Dark Knight Returns to life, gave us Flashpoint Paradox and most recently Batman: Bad Blood.
After doing some research I found that Jay has not only directed DC's better animated features, but has never directed a live action show/feature and that's something I'd love to change. I've had conversations with friends who have said that animation directs can't do live action, which is not true, examples: Brad Bird, Andrew Stanton, Jimmy Hayward, Tim Burton, Sylvain Chomet, Andrew Adamson, Phil Lord & Chris Miller. These guys have gone from directing animated shorts and features to big budget movies, this is what I want for Jay.
I believe personally Jay has proven he can direct both story and action, can work within the TV series structure, after all he directed 10 episodes of Young Justice, and most importantly he knows the DC Universe.
His career has predominately been working with DC, not just as a direct to DVD movie director but he’s been the guy to storyboard Man of Steels action scenes along with Batman V Superman’s action scenes, along with the upcoming Wonder Woman. Not to mention he's been involved in storyboarding some of season one of Flash too.
I'd love it if we could get Jay to direct an episode of Arrow, and he himself has expressed interest in doing it himself recently in reply to a tweet I sent out.
I can see Jay bringing the same action, sense of humour and mature story telling to Arrow that he did in Young Justice and the team building family dynamic that he's had in his recent DC Animated films.
If you agree with me and think that Jay should have a shot at making some live action DC content please help me by letting the show runners and producers know that we want it to happen. To get this to happen can you please tweet to @ArrowProdOffice @amellywood @mguggenheim @GBerlanti with the hash tag#JayForArrow.
PLEASE help make this happen.
Cheers guys
