Amazing BATWOMAN Fan-Art Gives Us An Idea Of What Ruby Rose Will Look Like As The DC Comics Superhero

It was announced yesterday that The Meg's Ruby Rose will take on the role of Batwoman in the Arrowverse, & now some very cool fan-art has been revealed showing what the actress might look like suited up...

For the most part, The CW has hired relative unknowns to play its superheroes but Ruby Rose - while fairly new to the world of acting - has already made a name for herself in everything from Orange is the New Black to John Wick: Chapter 2 and The Meg. She's a bona fide movie star and someone who will take the lead of her own series after being introduced in this fall's Arrowverse anticipated crossover.

An official reveal of her suited up is probably still a few months away but there's a very good chance The CW will stick to the source material based on past experience and that's definitely not a bad thing!

Now, @bosslogic has shared his take on what Rose might look like in the iconic costume and it's fair to say that this piece of artwork is impossible to fault. It's hard to imagine how the suit could be improved and he's done a great job incorporating her signature hairstyle into Kate Kane's appearance. What do you guys think? Are you excited to see Rose as Batwoman? Share your thoughts in the usual place!

It's fan art, I'm sure the final design will be nothing like it. I'm starting to see why so many people don't like Wilding's style.

@jj2112 - The art is by bosslogic (and yes he catches a lot of flak around here too)but Wilding is the one that always posts it here, and he always gets joshed for it (see what I did there? Lol)

@Santanaonfire - Yeah that's what I meant. Both are totally unrelated to the show's production so I'm sure the final result will be the usual CW generic leather look. So no, this gives us no idea whatsoever.

Shouldnt this be like in Fan Fic or Editorials or something? Either way this does not declare as news.

Honestly, I'm a hell of a lot more interested in what Berlanti would do with Batwoman than I am in seeing what he'd do with Batman. At this point, probably even more than what Reeves would do with Batman.

Batman has a lot of built-up canon and expectations. The best thing you can do with him in film is check all the boxes really well without somehow shitting the bed on some particular trait (either by accident or as an attempt to subvert something).

But Kane is a wildcard. Beyond the design and some broad strokes on tone, I'm not sure there's really a lot of fenceposts.

@Spock0Clock - I agree, but my interest in checking out a Batwoman show is lessened by the news that she’ll premiere in some big cross-over event of multiple shows that I do not watch.

Rather than feeling like something fresh, it instantly feels like a spin-off (and the 4th or 5th one at that) as a result.

@Chewtoy - I hear you on that. I've kept up with two of those shows, so it's not really a chore for me, but (unless there's some really compelling story behind the crossover) I would prefer a more standalone start.

@Chewtoy - Not me ... I love the connectivity of the universe and take the good with the bad. I love continuity and seeing players crossover in other shows! It’s like a dream come true.

Not a fan of the fan art (Bosslogic again, why does he get so much coverage on here?) but looking forward to seeing her as Batwoman, I've always liked Ruby Rose in whatever I've seen her in.

@Fishandchips - Because he's fast. This casting got announced yesterday and he already has put out something. His speed also means he does a rushed job all the time, which leads to mediocre art.

@BlindWedjat - Actually, it's more than that. He's being commissioned by the site, or at least he was in the past. IDK if it's by Josh in person, but he did this because he was asked to. Some kind of partnership between him and the staff. I just wish they asked/paid someone better. After all, they're doing this to generate some buzz, and the result is almost always terrible. There are hundreds of amazing fan artists out there, some at the top of their craft, but you're right, they're probably not as fast nor as cheap.

@BlindWedjat - @Fishandchips -

Honestly, if either one of you wants to do better, you're free to.

I'm far from the biggest Bosslogic fan, but the guy consistently puts out centerpieces to fuel fan-discussion, which is exactly why Josh posts them here. That in itself worth at least not complaining about.

What are you guys complaining about? Today, you've got some fan-art of Ruby Rose as Batwoman.

@Spock0Clock - I'm hardly complaining that he gets featured here. I think fan artist getting featured on major websites is actually good thing (and other websites do it).

What I don't like is that this is deemed as news, and that it's always BossLogic. I think there are much better guys yet to be discovered.

@Spock0Clock - Hell yes! I couldn't care less about Batwoman or Ruby Rose but I'm always glad to see my man Crichton! Now where's Winona?
Fishandchips

@Spock0Clock -

I feel like that is such a cop out, I'm not a chef, but if someone makes me bad food, I'm allowed to say it's bad.

My main criticism isn't that Bosslogic is bad (which, let's be fair, he isn't, I just don't really like it) it's that, like @BlindWedjat said, it's always Bosslogic, who, if you read through the comments on any article featuring him, isn't really that popular with the audience of this site.

I don't mind Josh putting this in news or getting it on main though, perks of the job and all that.

Super curious as to how a costume like hers will translate onto a CW show.

Hopefully it'll be good.

Also, there's like 0% chance they do the white eyes, right?

DC in general and the Bat-family in particular are still very mascara-dependent.

Does the character have her own rogues gallery, or would her show end up featuring Batman villains?
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 8/8/2018, 5:25 AM
@Chewtoy - Kind of yes to both, I think.

I've only read a smattering of Batwoman comics, but she seems to draw a lot from lesser-known (more Dick-Tracy-ish?) Batman villains as well as having some of her own. But I wouldn't be surprised if the Batwoman show appropriates some big names, too. Most of those villains have already appeared in a "show without Batman" in some form before, so it's probably going to be open season.

Basically, the Supergirl formula. (Or even the Arrow formula.)
