Jefferson Pierce has been out of the game for quite some time, but when his daughters find themselves at odds with a rising local gang, known as The One Hundred, Pierce decides it's time to come out of retirement and suit up once again as the electricity-wielding superhero Black Lightning.

However, a lot has changed since his last adventure and if he's going to survive in this new, more dangerous, landscape, he's going to need a major upgrade. Entertainment Weekly, as part of their annual Comic-Con preview, has released a first look photo of Cress Williams as Pierce building his new super suit.

Check it out below and use the link above to head over to EW, so you check out their full sit-down interview with Williams:

Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a New Orleans neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Christine Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

Black Lightning features:
Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning
China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce
Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce
Christine Adams as Lynn Pierce

Nothing i've seen so far has picked my interest.
I think the CW fatigue is finally reaching me.

Hopefully this show will force DC comics to get off their ass and give Black Lightning his own solo series again. Criminally underutilized character.

@soberchimera - His creator Tony Isabella is apparently working on a new one, you should check his Twitter.

The amount of exposition posing as dialogue in that trailer, yikes. Also really dislike his suit.

Gonna be kinda awkward to hire the guy to play Tobias Whale. I mean, his character is Albino, so you gotta reverse "RDJ/Tropic Thunder" him.

This show has potential, especially as the character is in the whole family man stage, and being a school principal makes his civilian life much more approachable in a tv series. I know a crossover isn't official, but I'd say it's a safe bet that after the midseason happens; they'll probably put things in motion.

@MrFurious93 - The show has potential. The effects, the suit and the tone looks bad.
