With only two episodes remaining in this freshman season of Black Lightning, next week's hour looks to be quite a doozy as Tobias (Marvin Jones III) makes a return to Freeland, looking to capture Black Lightning (Cress Willaims) for a very unexpected source. With the odds stacked against him, Jefferson will look to his daughters, Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain), for help in his quest to save his city.

Also, in case you missed it, The CW renewed Black Lightning yesterday along with nine other series. Get all the details by heading HERE.

Watch the new promo for episode twelve, titled "The Resurrection and the Light: The Book of Pain," below:

"The Resurrection and the Light: The Book of Pain" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

RETURN OF THE WHALE - Tobias (Marvin Jones III) returns to Freeland. He is tasked to capture - not kill - Black Lightning (Cress Williams) with the help of an unexpected source. After a battle of epic proportions, Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) provide surprising aid. Christine Adams, Damon Gupton and James Remar also star. The episode was written by Jan Nash & Adam Giaudrone and directed by Oz Scott (#112). Original airdate 4/10/2018.

Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a New Orleans neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn (Christine Adams), suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

Black Lightning features:
Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning
China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce
Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce
Christine Adams as Lynn Pierce
James Remar as Peter Gambi
Damon Gupton as Henderson

Black Lightning returns with an all-new episode April 10

Anyone hear Ava is going to be a main character in Legends Of Tomorrow Season 4, if she joins the team she should take on the code name

Lost interest in this show awhile back, but the past couple episodes have been dope. Like seriously, it's becoming "can't miss" for me. Hope they can keep up it up the great storytelling.

Jefferson pushed the buttons of the ASA when he destroyed their anti-BL armory.

The ASA also lost one of their test subjects. I wonder if they are going to end up finding in the finale a replacement and if it'll be the cliffhanger of the Season till the next one.

Fowdy was clearly conflicting through the entire episode about Jefferson's situation. But Proctor has her on a tight leash.

He also went through a literal thorough research in the police station.

I think Jennifer has to be the character that has gone through a lot in this Season: got kidnapped, had her boyfriend paralyzed, then after trying to help him and be supportive got cyber bullied by him, found out she has powers and her family's secret and finally her dad going to jail, she's actually quite strong in holding up and still not doing anything reckless as a reaction.

Henderson scored another win. Blackmailed a lesser dirty cop in order to get to the bigger one in the precinct and ended up as the new chief deputy. But I kind of felt bad for him when Lynn said she did not trust him but trusted her hubby's trust in him. Henderson is a long time friend, c'mon, have more faith. D:

Jefferson can't keep up the secret with him too long either, he really wanted to help him. And judging by the preview with that fight at Garfield High it won't take much for Henderson to match the dots.

I actually disagree with Gambi a bit with that the hologram fooled the ASA, Jefferson was released due to Henderson's efforts, but okay. At least Gambi and him are back and Jefferson will focus on all he has done for his family and will continue to do.

As for the preview: Tobias and Syonide are back and not holding back. Lala too. And that mysterious guy that they aren't showing his face could be Khalil after they powered him with Green Light as Syonide was promising him.

@NinnesMBC - Forgot about Khalil. You're probably right about that. There are lots of threads that will carry over to next season. Shadow council.

@tugboy - Yeah. At first I thought that it could be Jefferson's friend Two-Bits due to the threads hair style (could still be until we see the next episode) but there was a level of secrecy in the preview in not showing ya who is this guy in top shape that is just walking into Tobias' office like if he was some kind of protegé. So it gotta be Khalil pumped up with Green Light, which allows him to walk again and hateful of Black Lightning just like Tobias planned.

I think the Shadow Council in the comics is more of a superhero group while here it is the higher ranks of The One Hundred and it is more "The Shadow Board" as Tobias called it.
