While we wait to hear if Superman's cousin will be returning for a second season, his grandfather has just taken one step closer to the small screen as Krypton nears a pilot order at Syfy. It was roughly eighteen months ago that we first heard about the show from Man of Steel scribe David S. Goyer, and both he and the network have now zeroed in on Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) to executive produce and serve as showrunner. Those two have been rewriting the first episode, and Peaky Blinders director Colm McCarthy looks set to direct that.
Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. If things keep moving along at this rate, it wouldn't be surprising to see the show on the air this Fall, but do we really need yet another comic book prequel on television? As always, let us know your thoughts on this news below...
