Matt Ryan's John Constantine Confirmed For LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season 3 Appearance

There have been rumblings for a while that we might see Matt Ryan return as John Constantine in the third season of Legends of Tomorrow and it's now been confirmed that he's coming to The CW series...

Constantine was cancelled after a single season on NBC because the network mishandled the series from day one but this iteration of the character has lived thanks to an appearance in Arrow and an upcoming CW Seed animated series. However, it's now been confirmed that Matt Ryan will reprise the role in Legends of Tomorrow season three. That's been rumoured for a while but is now 100% official.

Showrunner Phil Klemmer made that clear in a recent interview while he was listing some of the adventures we can expect the group of time travelling heroes to go on during the third season.

"We get Billy Zane and the circus [in the second episode]; we get a little Julius Caesar on the beach in Aruba in the premiere," he told Rotten Tomatoes. "We meet [new team member] Zari in this sort of dystopian future. We get to do a little Amblin alien episode back in the ’80s; we do some Jack the Ripper Victorian London; Golden Age of Hollywood; John Constantine doing an exorcism."

How exactly the team will cross paths with Constantine remains to be seen, especially as he's not exactly much of a time-traveller! Many fans would love to see him join the Legends so if this opens the door to that happening, it's definitely a bonus. What do you guys think? Share your thoughts below.

@TheUnworthyThor - Agreed. He played the character so well, you could almost forget how badly the show was done. His portrayal was spot-on.

to bad its only 1 episode, Oliver could have used his help in a few episodes of Arrow Season 4 against Damien Dahrk and now the Legends could probably use his help against him

Legends is a slightly amusing series that should have been great. I think the premise would have been better without meta humans.

They should make him appear in the 4-part crossover even if they only have him for 1 episode.

What could've been one of the best cbtv shows :( Glad Matt Ryan's gets to be in this universe though and hope he gets a bigger role in the cw shows soon

This show has its moments - more than the other CW fare that can't seem to shake the teen soaps vibe.

I think of it as if Bob Haney's ghost is writing it sometimes.

Kind of like 'Batman and Kamandi?!?!?' WTFF?!?!?

Then you realize, 'Oh, that was actually kind of fun. Perhaps I shouldn't take this stuff so seriously...'

Then you notice several non-canon references that are blatantly out of continuity and decide the whole thing is total bullshit written by hacks with no respect for the source material.

Good for him! Between this and his CW Seed animated show I am glad we're getting more Constantine! For the big screen I'd say cast Colin Farrell!

He's such an unlikeable character, but then everyone on this show is. That's kind of why I like it. The team dynamic reminds me of Justice League International. A roster of the lamest screen jokes.

Have Constantine and Jonah Hex join the Legends! Why not! Hex was pretty solid on the show!

Constantine was weak. Really wish the show would have been on HBO or AMC with an actor with a more suitable accent.

Dude totally phoned it in for the JLD animated movie too.

@Nightmare - Americans can barely understand him as it is, so I doubt they'll ever give him a proper Scouse accent.
