PEACEMAKER Season 2 Shooting Dates Reportedly Revealed As John Cena Gears Up For WWE WRESTLEMANIA Return

A new report about WWE's plans for John Cena at this weekend's WrestleMania may shed light on when, and for how long, Peacemaker season 2 will be shooting for. Find more details on that after the jump...

If you're a pro wrestling fan, then we're sure you'll know that this weekend's WrestleMania will be headlined by The Rock and Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 and Reigns vs. Rhodes II on Night 2.

The expectation is that some familiar faces from the past could get involved with one or both matches, and John Cena and Stone Cold Steve Austin's names have been mentioned on several occasions in recent weeks. However, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker star won't be getting physical.

Why not? Well, we can once again blame those pesky Hollywood constraints!

It's already been confirmed that Peacemaker season 2 will shoot over the summer, and PWInsider (via TheRingReport.com) reveals that while Cena is expected in town for WrestleMania, it's still unclear whether he'll factor into the show.

However, what they can say is that Cena "will be off the board for anything major in the physical WWE realm for most of the remainder of 2024." That's because he's shooting Peacemaker between June and November, with cameras expected to stop rolling around Thanksgiving.

We're sure Cena can at least hit someone (Black Adam star The Rock is a prime candidate) with an Attitude Adjustment, but wouldn't bank on him doing much more than that. Like The Final Boss, he simply can't risk injuring himself while working on movies or TV shows because that risks delaying production by months, potentially costing a studio millions of dollars.

"For me, it was just about seeing who Peacemaker was," Gunn told us in 2022 when we asked about how he made one of The Suicide Squad's most despicable characters someone we could root for. "I knew that I loved the guy. I knew that I felt sorry for him and I knew that he was trapped in what would be called toxic masculinity."

"He’s trapped in this world set down by his father that has forced him into being a certain way, but in his heart, he’s an artist. He’s the guy we see at the end of episode six playing the piano. That’s who Peacemaker is, and yet, he’s become something completely different than that."

"He’s a guy whose soul was truly saved by rock ‘n’ roll," Gunn continued. "That was his ultimate form of rebellion, but also his way of maintaining himself and who he is to some slight degree. I think if I loved him, I always figured other people would probably fall in love with him too."

Anyway , looking forward to Peacemaker S2!!.

S1 was solid and am interested to see how they handle the universe shift and what will carry over from the end of the last season to this.

Hope they keep the Peacemaker figuratively being haunted by the ghost of his father because it has good story potential and was a nice way to homage the comics.

Not a bad card, I know the wrestlers but I don't watch WWE, I might when it comes to Netflix. I am more of an AEW and NJPW fan.

Enjoyed Season 1 of Peacemaker and I liked The Suicide Squad,I think that is why we should have more faith in Gunn's DCU.

@marvel72 - See that’s the thing, it doesn’t matter if you are loyal to AEW or NJPW because the WWE always appeal to even the most resistant spectator. There’s nothing quite like Wrestlemania or royal the Royal Rumble or Summerslam, Raw, Smackdown. WWE is just on a different level and that’s why it’s the top promotion within the industry. The fact that you stated that you may consider watching WWE on Netflix just proves how influential and undeniable the WWE truly is. Can’t wait to feast on Wrestlemania this weekend. Let’s go. ☝🏿

@TheMetaMan - It's only because I have a virgin cable service and WWE is shown on BT in the UK.

I could probably get the PPV through Triller.

@marvel72 - I see. I don’t watch AEW nor NJWP. Nothing against those companies they just don’t do it for me. The WWE is the Hollywood of the wrestling business. It’s the big lights, the special effects and visuals, it’s just pure spectacle and now with this current bloodline storyline it’s become cinema. AEW has so much potential to be bigger but Khan can’t run the company effectively. I can’t take the man seriously. I don’t think the company will last another five years. Hope I’m wrong.
