The Suicide Squad is still weeks away from being released in theaters and on HBO Max, but the finishing touches are already being put on Peacemaker before it arrives on the streaming platform next January. The spinoff series will bring John Cena back at the Task Force X villain, though it's unclear whether it will serve as a prequel or sequel to the events of the movie.
It's already been confirmed that James Gunn will direct six of the eight episodes he's written, but the filmmaker has now confirmed that Jody Hill is one of the other directors working on Peacemaker.
The co-creator of Eastbound & Down and Vice Principals, Hill has helmed multiple episodes of those shows and is executive producing the highly anticipated Hellraiser TV series that's currently being developed.
"I’ve known Jody a long time," Gunn revealed on Twitter yesterday evening. "I love Observe & Report and Foot Fist Way and early on an exec at [HBO Max] described [Peacemaker] as Eastbound & Down meets Watchmen so I thought I’d go directly to the source."
We still don't know who the show's other director is, so keep checking back here for updates.
