The first trailer for Swamp Thing leaned heavily on horror, but if this latest look at the DC Universe series is any indication, we'll also be seeing some of the more romantic elements that have become synonymous with the best comic book runs.

The brief teaser features Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) relaxing in the swamp as she narrates,“sometimes the man of your dreams turns out to be a monster.” We then see that she's actually lying next to the Earth Elemental himself (Derek Mears), and seems more than happy to be in his company.

It'll be interesting to see if this take on the DC Comic series will have Alec Holland (Andy Bean) transform into Swamp Thing, or if it follows Alan Moore's run and makes the creature a whole new entity that has simply retained Holland's thoughts and memories.

Swamp Thing” centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Reed). When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

Swamp Thing is being developed as a one-hour show, and has Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (It) on board to write the pilot. They'll also executive produce alongside Michael Clear and James Wan. Len Wiseman will helm the first episode.
