Sandman fans have been dreaming about a full trailer for Netflix's upcoming series adaptation of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed comic series since that brief teaser debuted last year, and we now have confirmation that more footage and an official premiere date will be revealed this coming Monday as Geeked Week gets underway.

In the meantime, the streamer has debuted a lovely new poster featuring Morpheus (Tom Sturridge) and his loyal raven Matthew (Patton Oswalt) ascending the steps of the Dream Lord's castle.

Can this small screen take on The Sandman possibly do the seminal source material justice? We do know that the upcoming trailer was screened for a handful of critics at a recent Netflix event, and the response to the footage was very positive indeed.

The Sandman also stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Logan actor Boyd Holbrook as sadistic escaped nightmare The Corinthian, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as black magician Roderick Burgess, and Asim Chaudhry (Black Mirror) and Sanjeeve Bhaskar (Yesterday) as Abel and Cain.

We recently learned that Desire and Despair will be played by Mason Alexander Park and Donna Preston, respectively, while Joely Richardson will play Ethel Cripps, and David Thewlis will take on the role of her son John Dee, aka the deranged Dr. Destiny. Jenna Coleman will play John Constantine's great-great-great grandmother, Lady Johanna Constantine.

The 10-episode first season of The Sandman will adapt the first two arcs of the Vertigo comics series, "Preludes and Nocturnes" and "The Dolls House."

Wish this was on HBO. Series being canceled after a cliffhanger ending would suck since that is Netflix’s MO.

@TheSuperMex - If they focus on the main story and cut the fluff they could get it done in a Netflix reasonable 4 seasons. Well, it would be if Sandman weren't so expensive, crazy expensive shows like this don't survive for long.

@TheSuperMex - I mean, HBO is owned by the people that also own CW and they're certainly all for dropping shows on cliffhangers.

It's a cool poster, but I really have to get my expectations in check, every new info gets me really excited and I know I'll only end up disappointed. It's my favorite story & Netflix already burnt me with The Witcher.

@AnthonyVonGeek -
Going by that photo, she looks pretty damn comic accurate to me. There's no race swap because paper-white dreamlords don't exist.

How is African American Death worse than casting a Caucasian actor to play Dream without full body makeup? In terms of "accuracy," it's really not.

This is a great poster, I read this back in high school, loved it! Really hoping this show does justice to the source material! :)

This is about the only impressive thing I've seen from this series so far.

I heard Gaiman being interviewed the other day. He certainly know Alan Moore. He says he loves what they have done with the show. He also sounded like he didn’t care if it’s a hit or not but cared that they did it well. He also suggested that the faint of heart should probably skip the episode in the diner.

How does John Constantine inherit the maiden name of his great, great grandmother?
