Sandman fans have been dreaming about a full trailer for Netflix's upcoming series adaptation of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed comic series since that brief teaser debuted last year, and we now have confirmation that more footage and an official premiere date will be revealed this coming Monday as Geeked Week gets underway.
In the meantime, the streamer has debuted a lovely new poster featuring Morpheus (Tom Sturridge) and his loyal raven Matthew (Patton Oswalt) ascending the steps of the Dream Lord's castle.
Can this small screen take on The Sandman possibly do the seminal source material justice? We do know that the upcoming trailer was screened for a handful of critics at a recent Netflix event, and the response to the footage was very positive indeed.
The Sandman also stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Logan actor Boyd Holbrook as sadistic escaped nightmare The Corinthian, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as black magician Roderick Burgess, and Asim Chaudhry (Black Mirror) and Sanjeeve Bhaskar (Yesterday) as Abel and Cain.
We recently learned that Desire and Despair will be played by Mason Alexander Park and Donna Preston, respectively, while Joely Richardson will play Ethel Cripps, and David Thewlis will take on the role of her son John Dee, aka the deranged Dr. Destiny. Jenna Coleman will play John Constantine's great-great-great grandmother, Lady Johanna Constantine.
The 10-episode first season of The Sandman will adapt the first two arcs of the Vertigo comics series, "Preludes and Nocturnes" and "The Dolls House."
