We're now just 8 days away from the premiere of The Sandman, and Netflix has debuted a series of new character banners in anticipation.

The posters feature the kindly and mysterious Gilbert (Stephen Fry), demon-hunting occultist Johanna Constantine (Jenna Coleman), escaped nightmare The Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook), and Morpheus' big sister, Death (Kirby Howell Baptiste).

During a recent interview, Neil Gaiman explained why he chose to hit back at trolls who took issue with The Good Place alum being cast as Death.

Check out the posters below, and let us know if you're looking forward to The Sandman in the usual spot.

"There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way."

The Sandman also stars Tom Sturridge as Dream, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Charles Dance as black magician Roderick Burgess, and Sanjeeve Bhaskar as Cain. Joely Richardson will play Ethel Cripps, while David Thewlis will take on the role of her son John Dee, aka the deranged Dr. Destiny.

The 10-episode first season of The Sandman will adapt the first two arcs of the Vertigo comics series, "Preludes and Nocturnes" and "The Doll's House."

I’m not feeling this at all, but maybe I am too nitpicky.

The comics is very “early 90s vertigo, with obscure DC Comics references” and doesn’t mesh for me with this holywood style the show is going for.

Also I’m kind of afraid after being bored to death by The Witcher (I never played the games, but the show was boring). But let’s see what they do.

It might turn out good. The casting is solid.

@running - How many seasons did you watch? The first season of The Witcher is a slow burn.

Read these books back in college and Neil Gaiman became an instant favourite. I hope this show lives up to his expectations. he seems pretty involved with it so that gives me hope and Sturridge does sound pretty ethereal as Dream. Stephen Fry as the Fiddler's green is just perfect.

I'll say it again....Comic book fanboys are some of the most racist people you will meet.

@Bryanferryfan - I'm not a big fan of this casting and I usually couldn't care less about anyone's race or skin colour, but I just think that Death's iconic look is the goth pale one from the comics, Netflix were not going to allow white make-up on a black girl's skin because that would also be accussed of being racist, so I'd have prefered that they had cast someone else that could look closer to the comics iconic look, same way I prefer a Superman with black hair and not a blond or redhaired one because I'm just used to Superman looking a certain way, or same way I prefer a Mystique with blue skin and not with pink skin, or a Martian Manhunter with green skin and not with yellow skin, I'm just used to a certain iconic look for certain characters, that's all, this girl could be the greatest black actress in the world but she doesn't look the way I would have expected Death to look like if she doesn't have the pale skin and the goth look, same way Denzel is a great actor but I wouldn't see him playing certain characters, same way I probably wouldn't like to see any great white actors playing Blade or Luke Cage or Shang-Chi.

I'll watch the show anyway, maybe she'll be great and change my mind, I'm sure she has to be a good actress, have not seen her in anything yet, but I doubt she was cast if she wasn't good, and if the show turns to be mediocre, pretty sure it won't be her fault, though I hope it's a good or at least decent show, but with Netflix you never know, they have some good stuff and they have some really bad stuff, I'd have probably prefered a more comic accurate looking show on HBO, but I'll wait to see it before judging it.

When Gaiman said that he was waiting for a worthy adaptation, we thought he wanted Tim Burton as director...

...and Johnny Depp as the Sandman...

And with the soundtrack by Dany Elfman...

But this adaptation with unknown second-row actors, is a pure NETFLIX BullSh*t
