Well, I picked up the first book right after it came out in paperback (waaaaay back in September 1997) and I bought each subsequent book the day they came out. This is by far my favourite book series of all time. I just wish George would cut down on all his other side projects and get the next 3 books out. The man EASILY looks 10-15 years older than he is and I don't suspect he'll live long enough to complete this series, much to my eternal chagrin.

Personally, I don't think he has a clue how to end it. It's gotten VERY complicated over the course of 4 books and #5 was supposed to be out YEARS ago and was simply comprised of the material/storylines that were split off during the editing of #4. Therefore, it should have practically been written by the time #4 was done. And that was 5 years ago. We got #1 in 1996, #2 in 1998, #3 in 2000 and #4 in 2005. ONE BOOK in ten years.

I'm not sure what his problem is, but it's not only worrisome but also incredibly frustrating. I know a lot of people who want to read this series due to my endless recommendation but are waiting to see if he can finish it first before they even start. Nobody wants another Robert Jordan situation.

My MAIN concern is that he'll die before he finishes it, not that it will take 30 years. He's EASILY the oldest looking 60 year old I have EVER seen in my ENTIRE life. He could pass for 80. No joke. Heck, he looked 75 years old 10 years ago! He's the same age as my Dad and looks like my Grandpa! The clock is ticking! And while I don't view him as my [female dog], I do have an expectation of him as a fan. And it's not being fulfilled. Not even close. It's not like he's Barbra Streisand and can just tour once every 20 years and make everyone happy. These books live a very vivid life within me and other fans, a life that has been left wanting for most of the past 10 years. I have every right to be dissatisfied to the point of complaint and you have every right to ignore me completely. Your Neil Gaiman post did give me a lot to think about, however. A helpful perspective. Thanks!

These clips they're releasing are making me more and more optimistic for a damn good series and a damn good adaption. This coupled with the release date for the next book just makes it more awesome.
