The His Dark Materials Comic-Con@Home panel confirmed an Fall return for HBO's adaptation of Philip Pullman’s acclaimed trilogy of fantasy novels, and it's now been announced that Season 2 of the show will premiere on November 16th.

The accompanying poster spotlights Lyra (Dafne Keen), Will (Amir Wilson), Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) and the rest of the main players from Season 1. The image also features Will's missing father John Parry (Andrew Scott), who was briefly introduced during the season finale.

Season 2 of His Dark Materials will adapt the middle book in Pullman's trilogy, "The Subtle Knife," which follows Lyra and Will to a mysterious town called Cittagazze as they're pursued by the forces of the Magisterium. New cast members include Terence Stamp (Superman II), Jade Anouka (Turn Up Charlie), Simone Kirby (Peaky Blinders) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who will provide the voice of John Parry's daemon (little Fleabag reunion there!).

Season 2 begins after Lord Asriel has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown. In a strange and mysterious abandoned city she meets Will, a boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past.

Would you call it quality? Is it good and dark, or more of a fairy tale?

Dafne Keen, McAvoy and now Andrew Scott make me really want to see it.

@DARKSIDEIS - Having not read the books, I very much enjoyed it, kinda fairy tale/ sci-fi. The only thing is because I haven't read the books, I found some of the names and world building kinda confusing but near the half way marked It all clicked for me. :)

@Jayman627 - Does McAvoy have a big role, or is it more of a mysterious cameo type?

@DARKSIDEIS - It's a real role. His character gets a name in a first episode. Not that there wouldn't still be some mystery around him.

Amir Wilson....not who id expect for the role. Nothing wrong with them making Will black, but he seems too big and looks too old in my opinion.

Still, im sure the guy will do fine

Season 1 was good but it wasn't super thrilling... but I've read the books and expect 2 & 3 to get super weird. It will be nice to see them finally adapted into live action.
