Last week it was announced that Agent Carter was ordered for an eight episodes season. Now we hear directly from MARVEL that Hayley Atwell will make her debut in the small screen Junuary 2015!

It's still unannounced if Dominic Copper will reprise his role as Howard Stark in the upcoming series.

"Marvel's Agent Carter," starring Captain America's Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life--Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter."

Starring Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, “Marvel’s Agent Carter” was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.  Executive producers are Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Chris Dingess, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Joe Quesada, Stan Lee and Jeph Loeb.  “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Would've been better as a summer show.

It'd be cool to see as a summer show but I can see why they're doing it in fall. Less movies.

That sucks, I was thinking it would be later this year. Oh well, at least they have plenty of time to get good actors and a good story.

If it's a bridge, than doesn't that mean AoS season 2 comes after January 2015 instead of Fall 2014?

Perfect way to do it, really. That way we don't miss AoS so much when it goes on hiatus. And Agent Carter isn't wasted as an 8-episode series. If it's really well-received, they could pick it up as a summer show or give it it's own slot in the fall of 2015. My guess, though, is that this is just an experiment and 8 episodes is all we'll get. Hopefully, the writers will keep that in mind and write it as a coherent arc across those episodes, so that it is solid.

8 episodes (or less) isn't uncommon for the first season of a tv series in the US. It's still double the episode count of Luther or Sherlock.

Hopefully this means that it will be a tight, cohesive story that wastes no time in getting its point across. No filler!

Oh wow, I thought the show would premiere this year? 2015 is far away, but the show will be worth the wait.

I'm pretty surprised only 8 episodes were ordered for the first season. Usually, 13-15 episodes are ordered for a TV show in its first season. The number of episodes ordered is increased if the show is a success.

I guess maybe they're playing it safe since it's a show starring a female lead. Kind of silly considering TV shows with female leads have proven to be very successful. Especially this day in age.

Sad news bear. Was looking forward to watching this along with Flash, Gotham, and AoS during the fall. Would have made the wait for Daredevil a bit more bearable too... now I can drive myself crazy waiting for both shows.
