AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Season Finale Ratings Hit Series Low; THE FLASH Stays Strong

Last night's ratings are in and it looks like The Flash's penultimate episode sped up to edge out the two-hour second season finale of Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., which hit a series low! What's this say for the series going forward? Come check it out!

Even though, last night's two-hour season finale of Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. was met with mostly positive reviews, it doesn't look like viewers were that inclined to tune in.

After using the release of Marvel's Avengers: Age Of Ultron to help put up respectable numbers in recent weeks, the show's second season ended on a fairly weak note with its lowest ratings ever. The series stumbled to a series low 1.3 rating/4 share with adults 18-49 and around 4.0 million viewers overall. This is surprising to say the least, especially with no major competition on and after it had averaged at least a 1.5 or 1.6 for the last five episodes. Last night's ratings were also about a 30% drop from the first season finale. The ABC drama typically performs well in DVR playback, so expect the numbers to go up slightly in the coming days.

In the grand scheme of things, its declining ratings likely won't mean too much right now as the show has already been renewed for a third season and will likely continue to generate some interest as Captain America: Civil War swiftly approaches, although if its past irrelevance to the MCU is any indication, the show will likely play an extremely minimal role in setting up that juggernaut of a film. The lower ratings do however make you wonder how many viewers will come back to the show when it returns in the fall.

In other news, The Flash remained a very strong performer for The CW as the penultimate episode of its freshman season edged out the AOS finale by drawing a 1.4/5 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall. iZombie, which directly competed with S.H.I.E.L.D's first hour, also saw a strong performance for the network with an 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 1.8 million viewers overall.

What did you guys think of the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. finale? What about The Flash? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Ratings don't mean sh*t. If Marvel/Disney wants to keep this on TV, they'll find a way to do it.

Ratings matter to the network always, ratings are what control how much they can sell advertising time for. If the show isn't making money, doesn't matter how badly Marvel wants to keep running it. Disney is still a publicly traded company, shareholders don't want to hear "but the fans love it!"

I saw both, and enjoyed both.

I think that AoS has improved a lot since it first came out.

I predict season 3 will be AOS' last. They waited way too long in giving us superpowered heroes.

AOS: "The series stumbled to a series low 1.3 rating/4 share with adults 18-49 and around 4.0 million viewers overall"

Flash: "remained a very strong performer for The CW as the penultimate episode of its freshman season edged out the AOS finale by drawing a 1.4/5 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall."

Wait....I read a review of the episode and it did say he got his arm chopped off.

Did he or didn't he? Lol.

I thought it was easily one of the best AOS episodes ever. Wonder if some people didn't tune in because of AOU? I was pissed at first at the lack of connections to the movie. Like I figured the twins would def be Inhumans at the very least, and maybe we'd get a Coulsen sighting or mention that he's alive.

This cant be right....@SlickRick was saying in the AoS thread that it destroyed the Flash in overnight rating. @NewMutantsReturn will enjoy this

I'm sure as long as Kevin wants it to stay, Disney will keep in on the air.

Yes, ultimately the ratings don't mean anything, because AoShit is only on the air because Disney owns Marvel & ABC. Best believe, if AoShit were on another network, it woulda been dropped like a bad habit after the first season.

Coulson gonna get that kung fu grip soon.

Hrm, okay. So the review probably just meant something gets chopped off then.

Wonder if it looked cheesy. Also, this connects to Kevin saying all Phase Two has someone getting their hand chopped off...count Coulson in this as well.
