Marvel has announced that actor/comedian Patton Oswalt will appear in a future episode of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent Eric Koenig, who made his first appearance in the comics in SGT. Fury & His Howling Commandos #27. The King of Queens actor is a well known comic geek, and jumped at the chance to be a part of the show. "I got a call from my agent saying they want you on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and I said ‘hell, yes,’” Oswalt relates. “I’m lucky that I’m visible enough that they wanted to bring me in to play this character. I’d worked with Joss Whedon before on ‘Dollhouse,’ and I guess I wasn’t too annoying and they decided to put me on another one of his shows. So I was very lucky.” What do you think of this latest gust star? More at the link below.

It doesn't matter what this show does, some people will hate on it no matter what. It's like the red-headed step-son of Marvel. Some people hate it just for existing. Even if the show it's actually pretty good.

This guy went way too far bashing the star wars prequels for a cheap laugh. But oh man I was so wrong about him. Look at him now, rising to the top. What a role. Man I would give anything to cameo in agents of state farm.

One of Nick Fury's Howling Commandos?

How old is his character, 68?!

Is this show even trying anymore?

"This guy went way too far bashing the star wars prequels for a cheap laugh."

Solid laugh, and he hit it right on the head.

Star Wars PT was, for the most part, a great lesson in how not to show a backstory.

Sorry, the CHARACTER debuted in '66. But he was active in WWII making him in his 90s!

@MisterPL

That's the character in the comics. Obviously, just like Fury himself, the MCU is not sticking strictly to the source material. Surely you've noticed that by now.

@Priest

Completely true. I still don't understand why people not only devote so much time and energy to something they claim to loathe, but tune in every time it airs as well. What a great way to dedicate one's free time.

@batmor the quality of the prequels is irrelevant, patton was such a poor comedian he had to stoop to a joke about time traveling to kill lucas for a laugh. Poooooor taste. I am not here to argue the prequels quality because frankly, who cares? If you didn't like them you give star wars a failing grade, so move on.

I'm guessing the people who side with the prequels, and feel Oswalt is a 'poor comedian', are FAR younger than him.

It's extremely boring and uneventful. And I really [frick]ing love Whedon's work....it's disappointing.

What's really great about all the nerd tribes, and the flame wars, and the "my preferred comic publisher's films are better than yours" kinda stuff is...When I was in high school, people like myself, who would show up every day in comic book shirts etc, were picked on by non-nerds. There was a constant berating of why I and others were lesser for liking these things.

Now, being a nerd is somewhat fashionable, and it's really still about picking on each other, it's just far more specific. You are lesser not because you like nerd things, but because you like these specific nerd things. I don't like those nerd things, how can you like them? I have no respect for what entertains you, you are without value, and I shall take every opportunity to say so.

This guy was supposed to be an ex howling commando??? He reaaaaalllly let go of himself. I love Patton thought. KING OF QUEENS !!!! FILIBUSTER!!!!! Honestly, this is just Whedon asking one of his boys if he wants to have some fun and guest star. He's looking out for his boy. They could've cast differently.
