Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Alternate Opening Finally Reveals Stunt That "Terrified" Charlie Cox

Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox has talked several times about a stunt that was cut from the Season 2 premiere, and we now have some behind-the-scenes footage of his impressive dive.

Shortly after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premiered on Disney+, Charlie Cox revealed that a stunt which "terrified" him had been cut from the episode's action-packed opening.

"I do have one gripe," he told episodes 1 and 2 directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson on the Daredevil: Born Again Official Podcast. "The amount of hours I spent learning that discipline with the dummy. That did not make it into our show very much. It did a little. But relatively, the amount of time I spent learning it. Not enough."

"I also seem to remember that I very bravely threw myself off a 20-foot scaffolding headfirst backwards," he continued, referring to that death-defying stunt. "That is also not in the show." Cox later joked, "I need the audience appreciation, otherwise it counts for nothing."

Well, footage of the deleted opening has now been released, and the actor wasn't lying when he said he threw himself backwards in a comic-accurate pose (this feels very Alex Maleev-inspired). The fact that Cox did this himself only makes it more impressive.

In Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, Matt Murdock will spend a lot of time behind bars after being imprisoned at the end of Season 2. However, despite successfully exiling Wilson Fisk from New York, the Kingpin will remain a threat to the Man Without Fear.

"In season 3, he [Matt] has new complications and issues, but with the news that Fisk may or may not be returning comes all of those old feelings, all of that rage, all of that hatred […] mixed with just a sense of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object," Cox teased while appearing on Good Morning America.

Many fans feel it's time to move on from Fisk, and with Daredevil: Born Again coming to an end with Season 3, the stage will potentially be set to do something new with the character moving forward.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3's cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles.

Krysten Ritter, meanwhile, will return as Jessica Jones, alongside Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios.

The series is expected to return to Disney+ next March.

That first season of Born again really sunk their ship

@0bstreperous - Not in quality.

@IAmAHoot - what do you mean? I hope you recognize the first season was a Frankenstein mess!

@0bstreperous - Facts. Uninteresting new characters. Poor depictions of the classic characters.

It felt like a diluted version "more of the same".

@0bstreperous - A lot of people still liked it plenty; and Season 2, despite the lower viewership, was widely praised for it's quality/content. If Season 1 and its reception sank it Season 2 wouldn't have become what it was.

@0bstreperous - The first season was a mess, but people still held out hope that the second would be far better because of all the hype surrounding bringing Netflix into canon and replacing the showrunner.

It was the second season that sunk it.

@KennKathleen - oh man I had blocked out all the non interesting characters from my mind until you brought it up for real.

And they doubled down in the second season. Though I will give them credit they tried in season 2.

@ObserverIO - I think people didn't season 2 because 1 was soooo bad and disjointed

@ObserverIO - "It was the second season that sunk it." Thank God someone gets it. The second is just as bad as the first, despite being more connective, having more action/daredevil, etc. The writing was just as bad and that let people down.

@FireGunn - in the first season on top of cringe worthy characters he didn't where the the suit for 6/8 episodes

It was far worse than the second but season 2 was bad they tried but it was bad
FireGunn
FireGunn - 10/10/2026, 6:12 PM
@0bstreperous - Both were horrible lol. I'm not in the game of comparing slop with slop. I hold season 2 to a higher standard because of what they said they wanted to do though and how much they failed to do it. At least with season 1, it had excuses.

@FireGunn - Changing topic to a show I've never seen doesn't alter things about the topic at hand.

@FireGunn - What you said is entirely irrelevant in every way and has nothing to do with this show. Please prove how it applies here.

Call me weird, but seeing Charlie do the stunt with no costume brings me joy and I don’t know why. He’s clearly in character there. Just cool to see
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 10/10/2026, 9:34 PM
@MyCoolYoung - it’s because it’s him doing the stunt when he doesn’t have to that is cool to see…

Just shows his commitment even more.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 10/10/2026, 11:45 PM
@TheVisionary25 - that too. I just mean the look. Even in practice without the costume he’s in character. Seeing the Murdock emotes is cool to see

The actors are great, as are the costumes, music, stunts etc.

The writing sucks.

The fish stinks from the head.

A problem that both Marvel and DC suffer from.
They should use comic book writers, not untalented nobodys.

This show is absolutely horrible. Better than Lanterns but that's not an accomplishment.

Reboot the MCU and DCU

Damn , sucks they cut that stunt since it was cool imo though I’m pretty sure the opening bit with Matt perched on top was in the show but could be wrong…

Anyway , BA S2 was quite good imo and this makes me want to see it again!!.

MyCoolYoung - 10/10/2026, 11:50 PM
@TheVisionary25 - I’m definitely going to find the time to binge watch it again. I feel like a lot of shows are better when you see them all side by side. Falcon and the winter soldier was amazing side by side. I recently watched all 5 seasons of insecure as well over like 4 days and it’s so much better that way
