Netflix and the original iteration of Marvel Television had plans for Daredevil Season 4, which were scrapped in 2018 when the news broke that Disney+ would launch the following year.
Fans campaigned to #SaveDaredevil, and after Netflix's exclusivity window ended, the Man Without Fear made his MCU debut in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Appearances in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo followed before Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Disney+ last March.
That will also end with its upcoming third season, prompting fans to once again plead with Marvel Studios to #SaveDaredevil. For now, though, Matt Murdock's MCU future remains uncertain.
Still, Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 reshoots are currently underway, and protesters have been spotted holding signs with messages like "Release Daredevil," "Lock Up The Mayor," "Free Murdock," and "#SaveDaredevil."
It seems New Yorkers aren't on board with Mayor Sheila Rivera, no great surprise given that, to the outside world, she loyally served the corrupt Wilson Fisk. This potentially lines up with reports that Luke Cage will ultimately run for Mayor, just like in the comics. Matt, meanwhile, clearly has the support of the people.
"I think he's made peace with that decision," Charlie Cox previously said of Matt decision to reveal that he's secretly Daredevil. "What he is not prepared for is what it's like to be incarcerated with a lot of people that he put away and also seeing, up close and personal, the failings of the penal system and having to really think about what happens after he does his job, and how is that failing people."
"The odds are stacked against you in terms of one's chances of true rehabilitation; [being] really given a second chance, that kind of stuff. So, that's kind of fun, interesting, Matt Murdock-y stuff that's going on in his head," the actor continued. "Also, eight months of being incarcerated for someone like him with the kind of people he's incarcerated with does a number on a mind like Matt Murdock's."
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles.
Defenders fans will be excited to learn that Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones, alongside Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist. Set photos have also confirmed that Elodie Yung is finally returning as Elektra Natchios.
The series is expected to return to Disney+ next March, so keep checking back here for updates.
