Cameras are currently rolling on Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 in New York, and two trailers have been spotted on set that confirm the returns of Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones.
Karen remaining part of the series isn't hugely shocking, though it does debunk theories that Bullseye will kill her in an adaptation of Kevin Smith and Joe Quesada's "Guardian Devil." That was already teased in Daredevil Season 3, anyway.
However, Jessica's return is a welcome surprise. Similar to The Punisher in Season 1, she's set to appear in only a handful of Season 2 episodes, and there's been some chatter about a possible Special Presentation revolving around the character being in the works. While that may still happen, it seems, for now, her story will continue in Daredevil: Born Again.
Will the likes of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Elektra follow? That remains to be seen, but Ritter's MCU return appears permanent.
Marvel Television has yet to renew the series for Season 4, but it seems likely given the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Season 2. That is currently one of Marvel Studios' highest-rated releases ever on Rotten Tomatoes.
In the press notes for the series, Ritter explained why she decided to reprise her role as Jessica after bidding farewell to the character in 2019. Netflix cancelled Jessica Jones after Season 3 in response to the launch of Disney+.
"Jessica Jones is such an iconic character, and in my humble opinion, one of the coolest female characters in the MCU, but also just ever. There’s a real fan fervor to see her again, and I know because I got asked about it, every day. Not just in press settings, but on the street, at the convenience store, the grocery store, CVS, the Uber driver."
"I absolutely felt there was more story to tell after we last saw her, and could potentially be another exciting entry point for her on a larger scale. I hear all the time from women who say they don’t read comic books and they don’t watch superhero movies, but they love Jessica Jones. That’s a testament to how great the writing was and how people really relate to this character. They love her, as do I."

In Daredevil: Born Again, survival, resistance and redemption collide as the battle for the soul of New York begins. In Season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil.
But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.
Created by Dario Scardapane, Chris Ord and Matt Corman, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 stars Charlie Cox as the titular masked vigilante (aka Matt Murdock) and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.
"A brutal, relentless tour-de-force, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is a Marvel masterstroke that sees Charlie Cox take the Man Without Fear to unprecedented heights, delivering the definitive take on Daredevil," we said in our 8-episode review published last week.
Daredevil: Born Again is now streaming weekly on Disney+.
