DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Will Reportedly Still Feature White Tiger; Spin-Off Series Rumored

Despite the creative overhaul to Daredevil: Born Again, the Disney+ series is still expected to feature the debut of White Tiger, and the character may even get their own spin-off show...

Late last year, we learned that Marvel Studios had decided to go back to the drawing board on Daredevil: Born Again by scrapping the initial premise, but (rumored) details on what the story was originally going to entail continued to filter through, and "The Trial of the White Tiger" was said to be the show's first major storyline prior to the overhaul.

According to the trades, Marvel execs reviewed some footage from the show while production was paused during the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, and decided that a "significant creative reboot" was in order. Head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman, along with directors for the remaining episodes, were let go, and Kevin Feige is said to have signed-off on a pretty major course-change.

Apparently, the first few episodes were going to focus on Matt Murdock taking on Hector Ayala as a client after he helps prevent a mugging, which turned out to be an attempted murder by corrupt cops who were trying to silence an informant before he could get to trial. One of the officers dies, leaving Hector to stand trial as a cop-killer.

We don't know if things will still play out exactly the same, but Daniel Richtman is reporting that White Tiger is set to appear, and there may also be plans in place for a spin-off featuring the character.

We're not sure how much stock to put in this, mostly because White Tiger's casting was never announced, although it's always possible Marvel simply kept it under wraps. There were rumors that Jenna Ortega was in the talks to play the Ava Ayala incarnation of White Tiger, but this would obviously contradict those reports - unless both version are set to feature.

Born Again will see the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) face-off against his old nemesis Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), with Jon Bernthal also set to return as Frank Castle. Initially, Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll were not going to be a part of the series, but after the revamp, it seems they will reprise their respective roles as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page after all.

The upcoming Disney+ series doesn't have an official release date yet, but D'Onofrio recently revealed that filming is set to resume "not long from now... in a few weeks, in fact." The actor also mentioned that the show will have a similar tone to the long-defunct Netflix Daredevil series.

Loved The White Tiger back when I was reading my dad's comics as a kid.

@marvel72 - Actually, this was one of my very first comics as a little kid. I still have it.

@GeneralZod - look how great that cover is.

Gotta love the older comic books.

@marvel72 - Yep. No one is posing. They're fighting -- and there is a background. You rarely see that on a cover these days.

@GeneralZod - Exactly right, exciting covers sell comics.

Now they just get a hot artist to draw a character looking sexy, just look at all the Powergirl covers recently or Catwoman.

Let's just make Born Again work, before we start planning all these spinoffs.

@SheepishOne - problem is this is a black character they already wrote into the script. There is a zero percent chance they were gonna cut him or his eventual spin off.

Doesn't take much to connect the dots here...

...They were doing a bunch of courtroom stuff sans DD suiting up and rumors of a female white Tiger points to the Trial of the Century storyline fairly clearly so yes both were likely going to be in the show but the original is the one on trial for murder that MM was defending in court. So I don't see the contradiction here, the mantle passing to a female relative was the result from that story in the comics, a Spinoff could be following Ava's incarnation or could even have been a set in the past following Hector (or mix of both through flashbacks).

As is if back to drawing board no point taking anything rumor wise too seriously yet as will be in flux what is staying, what was once considered and now being dropped or what is simply being tweaked a bit. As always, what will be will be and we will see when it arrives if the end results are good or not.

Howabout we make a good show before planning MORE spin-offs?
I don’t think we need another (no offense) C tier character to get their own show when there is already over saturation with Disney.

I think it really should be a case of releasing the project first before deciding about potential spin-offs based on the reaction to the show and the characters.

Daredevil Born Again is barely clinging to life, a series so horrifically bad that they've had to scrap 9 episodes and re-shoot the entire thing from the ground up changing a majority of the plot. Now is not the time when you try and use it as a method of establishing characters. Now is the time when you put your nose to the grindstone and try and make it into something watchable and pray to the gods above that people will still actually be interested in superhero content produced by you in 2025.

can't wait to see her kick DD's blind ass with ease. Following the success of echo, a spin off for lady shemale tiger is just what marvel needs right now.

They're just hijacking the audience that Netflix's DD built so they can promote their spin off characters which most people don't give 2 shits about.

Marvel Studios wants to have hundreds of heroes readily available prior to Secret Wars. That's the reason for this overdrive of new heroes being introduced in their shows.

@SonOfAGif - I think its mostly cause the higher ups want content for D+, so they need to set up future shows. Cause i think you could've pulled us a SW with a small cast of heroes plus the multiversal ones.

@SonOfAGif - If that's the case then they really need to push Secret Wars back some more years. Like 2030 maybe.

@eagc1995 - That's the thing right there. We have all the multiversal heroes. There's no need to introduce MCU X-Men before Secret Wars or even Fantastic Four. They could have easily just used the Tim Story Fantastic Four for their purposes.

The Josh Trank Fant4stic even sets up a lot of Time Runs Out/Secret Wars stuff. It was basically the origin of The Maker and Doom was the lord of Planet Zero. They could totally use that version of Doom as a background villain who uses TVA tech and the power of the Beyonders to turn Planet Zero into Battleworld for the Secret Wars movie.

@ObserverIO - Yeah, Marvel has already alot of heroes at their disposal from just the Fox franchises alone for use in Secret Wars and maye Sony too if Sony is willing to share all of their characters for Secret Wars, you already have your cast there.

It's a BS rumor. Feige knows how badly he blew up the gold mine he founded, and he can't keep making the same stupid mistakes from Phase 4/5.
