While we're all very excited about Charlie Cox's future as Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are plenty of other projects the actor is working on. Among them is the new Netflix series Treason, a spy drama from Bridge of Spies writer Matt Charman.
Cox plays Adam Lawrence, an MI6 officer who is accused of being a double agent, leaving him to prove his innocence.
It's an enjoyable watch in what's proven to be a busy twelve months for the actor with appearances as the Man Without Fear in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Most of his 2023 will be spent shooting Daredevil: Born Again, of course, but if you tuned into Treason this week, you may have spotted a fun Marvel Easter Egg.
In episode three, Lawrence is spending an evening at home with his wife Maddy de Costa (Oona Chaplin), daughter Ella (Beau Gadsdon) and son Callum (Samuel Leakey).
They're playing that game where you stick the name of a person or character on your head and then guess who you are by asking questions. Cox's character is Cleopatra, but his daughter is Spider-Man! This has to be a nod to Daredevil's history with the web-slinger, and the fact the Treason star appeared in last December's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
However, we're not sure we can forgive the team working on the show for spelling "Spider-Man" as "Spiderman" (yes, the hyphen matters).
During a recent interview with Digital Spy, Cox actually reacted to the Easter Egg by saying, "Yeah, I remember making a joke about that," he laughed. "I remember saying, 'Well, this is something that a very niche set of fans is going to love.'"
