TFATWS: New Captain America Wyatt Russell Auditioned For Steve Rogers In 2011's THE FIRST AVENGER

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier introduced a new Captain America to the MCU, but had things worked out differently, actor Wyatt Russell might have ended up playing the original Sentinel of Liberty!

Marvel's The Falcon and The Winter Soldier introduced a new Captain America to the MCU in the form of John Walker, but playing the Sentinel of Liberty in the Disney+ series wasn't actor Wyatt Russell's first brush with the iconic mantle.

While speaking to Good Morning America, Russell confirmed that he actually auditioned to play Steve Rogers back when Marvel Studios was casting the role for Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011.

We know Marvel cast a wide net to find their Cap before Chris Evans signed on to star, so Russell was probably one of many actors to read for the part. Still, it's an interesting twist of fate that sees him wielding the shield as a different incarnation of the character 10 years later.

Friday's episode gave us a first look at Walker in action as he (briefly) teamed up with Sam and Bucky to take on the Flag Smashers. The former marine seems like he genuinely wants to be a force for good and live up to Rogers' legacy, but something tells us a darker side of his personality is going to emerge as the story progresses.

What do you guys make of Mr. Walker? Have you been enjoying The Falcon and The Winter Soldier so far? Let us know in the usual place.
