Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for I Am Groot, and this is exactly what we were hoping to see from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 spinoff. With that comes a poster and confirmation that five more episodes will be released on Disney+ sometime in the near future (hopefully not too long after the first five are released next month).
While this is an "animated" series, the VFX-style visuals make Baby Groot look exactly as he did in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel. The adorable sentient tree grew up by one of that movie's post-credits scenes, so Marvel Studios is clearly looking to take advantage of his cuteness with all manner of hijinks and new looks for the hero.
We can't wait for this one to hit Disney+, anyway, and hope to have more to share soon.
Something tells us there will definitely be a lot of Baby Groot toys out in time for Christmas, anyway, and the fact we're getting a total of ten episodes is fantastic news. Hopefully, the show lives up to expectations and we also get a second season down the line!
"There’s no guarding the galaxy from this mischievous toddler," reads the official synopsis. "So get ready as Baby Groot takes center stage in his very own series, exploring his glory days growing up - and getting into trouble - among the stars."
Vin Diesel, who is the voice of Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, is the voice of Baby Groot. The writer/director is Kirsten Lepore, and the executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum and James Gunn.
I Am Groot is set to premiere on Disney+ on August 10, just one week before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law also debuts on the streaming service.
