INHUMANS: It Appears As Though ABC Has Quietly Cancelled The Poorly Received Marvel Series

While we await official word from ABC, it appears their press site has inadvertently revealed the fate of Inhumans and as expected, it looks like they may have opted to cancel the poorly received series.

Following a report from the TCA press tour, SpoilerTV has just discovered that ABC has now quietly removed Marvel's Inhumans from their publicity press site (something I have since independently confirmed), which, barring anything unexpected happening in the next few weeks, seemingly suggests that the series has been effectively cancelled by the network.

Upfronts aren't until May, so it will likely be a few more months until we get any sort of official confirmation, but if this is the end, then it probably won't come as much of a shocker to anyone that was watching. The series was always facing an uphill battle for a second year, especially after its poor critical reception, subpar ratings, and disatrous IMAX run last fall.

On another note, if you're looking to catch up on Marvel Television's latest offering, the entire eight-episode freshman season is still available to stream on the official ABC website, but you may want to hurry because the clock is definitely ticking.

So, what do you guys think of this latest development? Sound off with your thoughts below!

The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. “Marvel’s The Inhumans” will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.

Inhumans features:
Anson Mount as Black Bolt
Serinda Swan as Medusa
Iwan Rheon as Maximus
Ken Leung as Karnak
Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon
Isabelle Cornish as Crystal
Mike Moh as Triton
Sonya Balmores as Auran
Ellen Woglom as Louise

Inhumans returns TBD

Not surprised. It had none of the darkness of the comic, and none of the charm of other comic book shows. It could have stood to be a lot more violent, weird, and monstrous, so that the title at least made sense.

Wasnt this cancelled before it even aired?

@Antithesis - That was the rumor, but it was never confirmed. Sometimes these rumors get treated as fact and then start getting repeated.

@HeavyMetal4Life - i thought the Imax premier killed it. You live you learn

@Antithesis - It certainly didn't help. But there was never any official cancellation.

@HeavyMetal4Life - it wasn't a terrible show in the grand scheme of things, it just wasn't good either.

@Antithesis - Yeah. It wasn't complete crap. There were a few things I liked about it, mostly Anson Mount who, even though I didn't like how depowered they made Black Bolt, I thought he gave a really good performance. But, the problem is that the show SHOULD have been so much better. It should have been a SHIELD level show. And they had a decent budget if I remember correctly. But there were many problems outside of use of money.

@HeavyMetal4Life - shield wasn't exactly great the first few seasons either and they got renewed. Maybe if inhumans had been renewed it might have been better, they just spent their money wrong I think.

@Antithesis - Yeah, I think there was potential for Inhumans to have redeemed itself with a second season, though the damage done was pretty severe.

And yeah, SHIELD took a while to find their footing. For me, it really didn't start to get good until episode 14 of season 1 (when they discover what project Tahiti really was. This was also the episode Bill Paxton debuted I believe). And then of course the whole crossover with TWS really energized the series. Season 2 was pretty good but not all around great, still had some weak spots. But starting with season 3 and continuing with this season, SHIELD has just been incredible.

@Antithesis - Very sad. Clark Gregg actually posted a pic yesterday of him, Bill, and Samuel Jackson from the season 1 finale, and he said how he misses Bill. Hard to believe its been about 11 months since he died. Rip to the Ultimate Badass.
