Despite the fact that Ironheart was only created fairly recently in Invincible Iron Man Vol. 3 #7 (May 2016), it looks as if the Brian Michael Bendis creation might be making a major impact in the MCU, carrying the Iron Man legacy left behind by Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark.
One of the most notable storylines in the comics saw Williams team up with Kate Bishop to form a new iteration of the teenage superhero team, the Young Avengers. However, Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard recently stated that a standalone Young Avengers movie is currently not in the cards for the MCU, so perhaps the team will materialize in a different fashion? It's hard to imagine that the MCU would introduce so many young heroes and fail to bring the next generation of Avengers together in some form or fashion.
Speaking to The Direct, Ironheart actress Dominique Thorne revealed that the Young Avenger she'd most like to see her character team-up with is Cassie Lang. Thorne stated, " I would say maybe Cassie Lang, I’d say. I think the two of them, they’re definitely similar age group, all of that. But Cassie also experienced… We all, obviously, know the loss that Riri has experienced. Or if we don’t, we’ll come to know… It’s how she came to be. And so, Cassie though, in a way that I’m not sure we really have seen yet. But she also experienced loss in a different form with the Blip and all that that meant.”
Thorne went on to add, "And to see the glimpses of her sort of taking up her own mantle and going on her own journey, as alluded to from all the [Quantumania] trailers, I think it would be pretty interesting to see how these two young girls from very different backgrounds, very different lifestyles, but of a similar age, and maybe a shared human emotion of loss, to see how they interact and what they do if they were to get together in this very super world of ours.”
After appearing in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart is next expected to appear in her own Disney+ series, however, a new report surmises that Marvel Studios will be reducing its TV and film output over the next few years as they try to course-correct what many perceive to be a drop in quality following Avengers: Endgame.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, only Secret Invasion and Loki season 2 are expected to be released in 2023 meaning the earliest Ironheart could debut is 2024.
