Despite the fact a first look at Ironheart was revealed in set photos last August (yes, as in August 2022), we recently learned that the show may not arrive on Disney+ until September 2025.
We're hoping the wait will be worth it, particularly amid rumours about Mephisto making an appearance, but a first look at Riri Williams' final suit has just been revealed...on eBay!
The Cosmic Circus uncovered these images after they were listed on the auction website. The socks were given to crew members as a gift from Ryan Coogler, his wife Zinzi, and producer Sev Ohanian. Confirming their legitimacy is a note accompanying them that reads, "Thank you to the Wisest Guys around for a fantastic show! Sev, Zinzi, Ryan & The Team At Proximity."
"Wise Guy" was Ironheart's working title and, while this new look at the MCU's new Armored Avenger is heavily stylised, it offers an idea of what her final suit will look like. A cross between what she wore in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the comic book design, it looks fantastic.
We've seen actress Dominique Thorne on set decked out in a bulky War Machine-like suit, but the comic book readers among you will surely be pleased to see that the teenage hero will eventually don something more in line with what's on the page.
As for when we'll get a first official look at the series...well, don't be surprised if we're waiting on that until next July's San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel Studios is currently spinning a lot of different plates and promoting a show which is still two years away won't be a priority for a while yet.
Ironheart was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato and first appeared in the pages of Invincible Iron Man Vol. 3 #7 in May 2016. She's since become a firm fan-favourite.
In Ironheart, charming teenage super genius Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) returns from MIT to her hometown of Chicago in her iron suit and begins to unravel threads that bring danger and adventure right to her doorstep.
Alongside Thorne as the title character, the show stars Anthony Ramos, Manny Montana, Shakira Barrera, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Shea Couleé, Zoe Terakes, Paul Calderón, Anji White, and Cree Summer.
As noted, the series doesn't currently have a confirmed premiere date but isn't expected to arrive on Disney+ until early 2025.
