LUKE CAGE Season 2's Amazingly Silly Dance Moment Was Improvised

One of the most entertaining parts of LUKE CAGE season 2 was when the titular superhero hit the dab. Though surprisingly improvised, there's no denying that this is a landmark moment in the MCU.

Luke Cage season 2 was an absolute success for Marvel and Netflix. Fans have received it far better than the divisive first outing, with a finale that has set up a promise for the great things to come.

One could argue that the highlight of the hero's sophomores season came in its first few episodes, where Cage, after walking out of a fiery explosion, hits the dab on camera. According to showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker, this was an improvisation that actor Mike Colter added on the spot.

When a fan asked on Twitter why Cage did hit the Milly Rock, Coker responded lightheartedly:

Though some on Twitter thought the performance of the move was subpar, fans are sure to have a ball with this amazing and campy highlight for years to come.

I know alotbof people thought that was super cringe, I know I did, BUT to connect with the kids on the streets of that's legit what they're doing and think is cool. So with that said Luke, dab on those haters.

Plus its Luke Cage the guy is corny as hell so it makes sense.

@MrCamw1 - But that's the problem. Luke Cage is not supposed to be corny. Anybody familiar with the comics knows he's supposed to be a badass.

That dab was hilarious, I loved it.

I finally finished watching season 2 last night. It was pretty slow, but really picks up pace around the 7th episode. I loved Bushmaster. The rest of the cast gave some great performances, especially Mariah.

Also, Danny Rand was a little less annoying in this, but Finn Jones action sequences are still really reeally bad. Other than that the Luke vs. Bushmaster fights were pretty great.

@RageDriver2401 - My favorite fight was between Luke/Bushmaster team up and the fight at the end with everyone vs Bushmaster. Also I liked The Luke Iron Fist action sequence, but to each his own.

@MrCamw1 - it must've been well choreographed, but whenever Finn Jones comes into frame you can see him trying to not hit the guy. He's way too out of sync and slow. You don't feel the impact in his fight scenes.

Was the dab ever really cool? I feel like the only people I ever see dabbing anymore are obnoxious YouTubers and 9-year olds copying the obnoxious YouTubers.

@santoanderson - It WAS cool, like 2 years ago when Cam blew it up. Once it hit the suburbs, it was dead in the streets...

I took that scene as a "It's so corny, it's hilarious" type thing. Kinda like Shuri's "What Are Those" joke.

You just shake your head with a smirk.

I didn’t even know what that was, likely because I am not Africa American but I interpretated as a “peace out” symbolism.

Anyway Luke can do whatever he wants. It’s his show.
