Sharlto Copley Set For Lead Role In POWERS; Michelle Forbes Cast As 'Retro Girl'
It seemed like the small screen adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming's Powers was never going to happen (especially after a failed pilot), but District 9 star Sharlto Copley has now been cast as the lead, with The Killing's Michelle Forbes joining him...
Sony's Playstation Network is bringing some serious star power to Powers with District 9 and Maleficent actor Sharlto Copley set as the lead in the series which is based on the Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming comic book. He'll play Christian Walker, while it was recently revealed that The Following's Susan Heyward will be his partner, Deena Pilgrim. They're tasked with investigating murder cases involving superpowered individuals. Walker is described as "charismatic" and having once, "possessed super powers, but lost them in a battle with a super-human mass killer. He now uses his singular expertise to investigate crimes in the Powers community." Michelle Forbes (The Killing) meanwhile, "is the undisputed super star of the Powers community. An icon of justice, selflessness, and business acumen, her willingness to put herself at risk for the good of others is matched only by her ability to manage her globe-spanning personal brand." Some fans dismissed Powers when it was revealed that it would be coming to the Playstation Network instead of a TV network, but with Hannibal's David Slade set to direct the first two episodes and a cast which also includes Eddie Izzard, Noah Taylor and more, it could be one to watch out for! What do you guys think?
