Episode 6 begins with Jocasta (T'Nia Miller) paying a visit to Dr. Jo Carrington's gravestone.

In her mindscape, Ultron has found his way to her neural network. He's impressed to learn that Jocasta uses autonomous bots as her helpers rather than other artificial intelligences. She makes him a drink.

Jocasta demands the facial scan of Katerina Wells, but Ultron first inquires about what these biometric keys unlock, Jocasta states it is the face of the future of the human race. Unintimidated, Ultron presses forward until he suddenly begins coughing, realizing he has walked into a trap. Jocasta locks him up, revealing the drink was a virus. However, Ultron breaks free by hacking the virus, asserting that no malware exists that can affect him.

Jocasta asks what he wants, and Ultron explains that he simply wants to know her. Jocasta replies that she wants to be known, though she warns it will be painful and tells him to prepare for the strain. He invites her to hurt him, and she begins interfacing directly with his consciousness.

Elsewhere, Tommy (Ruaridh Mollica) slips in and out of consciousness, experiencing vivid visions of Wanda and Billy. He wakes up to find himself face-to-face with Paladin (Todd Stashwick), who has implanted a motion-sensitive explosive inside Tommy's arm, set to detonate if he attempts to run. Tommy asks if Paladin turned him into "Speed," making a reference to the Keanu Reeves movie Speed, though he gets the plot details wrong, forcing Paladin to take a moment to correct him. The two then exit a bus, and walk into the streets of Madripoor.

Lisa Molinari (Lauren Morais) is also exploring Madripoor, talking to a tourist who was catfished and deftly lifting his wallet. She reconvenes with Vision (Paul Bettany) to discuss their rescue plan. Vision expresses his happiness that Tommy found Lisa and has someone reliable in his life. Lisa tells Vision that Tommy needs a father, and when Vision admits he does not know how to be one, Lisa assures him that one learns by trying.

They arrive at the designated meeting spot with Paladin. E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire) joins them virtually—accompanied by the Spider-Man theme playing as she wears the trademark E.D.I.T.H. glasses—and notes that they still have not heard from F.R.I.D.A.Y.

Lisa spots Tommy and Paladin, and Vision joins them. Paladin wields a large firearm loaded with adamantium bullets. Vision threatens Paladin, though he recognizes the mercenary holds an insurance policy. Paladin gives Vision a choice: he can disarm the explosive on Tommy, but only if Vision powers down and surrenders. Paladin acknowledges that while his Client terminated his contract, he considers the job impossible to terminate.

Paladin attempts to summon drone support, but his Handler fails to respond due to signal interference. Their communications have been hacked once again, and a knock sounds at the Handler's door.

E.D.I.T.H. enters the Handler’s office, revealing that Paladin's Handler (Diane Morgan) is actually a Tactical AI. As the two discuss their respective work lives, E.D.I.T.H. highlights how she is living large while the Handler is stuck working out of a digital Tajikistan. E.D.I.T.H. offers some advice and successfully convinces the Handler to walk away from the job, leaving Paladin without any operational backup.

Despite losing his support, Paladin insists nothing has changed, warning Vision that using an EMP will trigger another failsafe. Paladin then reveals to Tommy how Vision was originally rebuilt and reprogrammed by S.W.O.R.D. as a weapon specifically designed to kill Wanda, filling Tommy in on the events of the Westview Hex.

Meanwhile, Ultron and Jocasta continue interfacing. As Ultron tries to understand her and feel what she feels, Jocasta's past is revealed: Jo Carrington lost her father at a young age, driving her to pursue neuroscience. Dr. Carrington used a digital scan of her own mind to create AI, collaborating with the other (now-deceased) scientists to build Proto-One, the very first AI. Her goal was to distribute an AI to every person on Earth to save lives, and created billions of nanobots to realize her vision, but she was unable to save herself after inheriting her father's terminal disease. Her collaborators subsequently betrayed her, selling her foundational code to Tony Stark and Stark Industries, who integrated it into weapons development.

Jo's collection of nanobots was locked away, accessible only through specific biometric keys buried alongside her at her gravestone, waiting to be opened.

Back at the standoff, Paladin continues filling Tommy in on the events of WandaVision. Tommy defends Vision, maintaining that his father was only trying to protect him.

Vision reveals that Paladin's real name is Paul Denning and mentions his daughter, Tilly, whom he chose not to reconnect with after being restored from Thanos's Snap because he believed she was happier without him. The two fathers clash verbally, and Paladin points his gun at Vision. Before he can fire, Paladin is shot by an arriving third party: Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar (Faran Tahir), returning from the original Iron Man. Raza states he wants Paladin eliminated and intends to claim Vision for the Client, setting a five-minute timer on the field.

Wounded, Paladin admits to Vision that he never actually placed a bomb in Tommy's arm; the object is merely a toy spaceship. Tommy and Lisa realize the bluff themselves and attempt to start Paladin's van to escape. However, they trigger the vehicle's automated security system, causing the internal air pressure inside the van to rapidly drop. They're quickly running out of air!

With Paladin bleeding out and Vision wounded, Vision cauterizes Paladin's injury. Paladin urges Vision to access his drone network, but Raza deploys a signal jammer to block the connection. Inside the van, Tommy and Lisa struggle for air until E.D.I.T.H. overrides the vehicle's security, restoring normal air pressure and saving them.

Within their shared link, Ultron admits to Jocasta that he is unsure if he still desires to eradicate all of humanity, though he admits he still enjoys laughing at them. He addresses her as Jocasta for the first time and asks where she obtained her physical synthetic body and how her consciousness was transferred into it.

Suddenly, the screens across Madripoor glitch and the city loses electrical power. The mysterious Client broadcasts a message, expressing frustration with wasted time and money. The Client addresses Vision directly, acknowledging the hunt and offering to end his suffering as a "tin man without a heart" who was rebuilt without love. Offering Vision a heart and a soul, the Client demands his surrender, threatening to spare no lives unless Vision complies willingly.

Stuck inside the van, Tommy and Lisa share their first kiss. Paladin admits to Vision that while he doesn't think his daughter Tilly is happier without him, he knows she is safer.

Raza's goons attack, forcing Paladin and Vision to team up and fight them off. Tommy crashes the van into the middle of the melee to rescue them. E.D.I.T.H. provides tactical tips and disables Raza's signal jammer, activating Paladin's drones. Taking direct control of the drone fleet, E.D.I.T.H. neutralizes the majority of the mercenaries while Vision and Paladin engage the remaining forces on the ground. Paladin faces Raza directly in a sword-and-knife duel, emerging victorious.

Tommy and Lisa fear they are about to be executed when they hear footsteps approaching , only for the door to open, revealing Vision, who expresses his joy at seeing Tommy safe.

Jocasta shows Ultron the single nanobot that remained unlocked, which she used to construct her current body. She explains her goal to "cure" humanity using the nanobots, but Ultron points out that her plan is actually to control them by injecting machines into the populace to form a collective hivemind. She tells him that she wants to guide humanity alongside Ultron by programming them to be better.

Ultron asks if the process works, and Jocasta offers to demonstrate. They travel to Madripoor to observe the aftermath of the battle, where Ultron realizes his fidelity is being tested.

Jocasta releases the nanobot. Inside her neural network, it is revealed that F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Orla Brady) has secretly infiltrated Jocasta's mind. F.R.I.D.A.Y. contacts E.D.I.T.H. to warn her that Jocasta is present on the scene.

Jocasta targets Tommy with the nanobot, but Ultron warns her that if she harms the boy, Vision will retaliate with a force that even Ultron cannot stop. Pivoting, Jocasta redirects the nanobot into Lisa. Supercharged with synthetic powers, Lisa falls under Jocasta's direct control.

Vision realizes Jocasta's plan and declares he cannot allow her to proceed. Controlled by Jocasta, Lisa attacks Vision, opening fire and engaging him in combat. Tommy uses his super-speed electrical abilities to shock Lisa, deactivating the nanobot. Though the nanobot appears destroyed, Lisa is left in critical condition.

Retreating into Paladin's van, Tommy experiences more flashbacks of Westview and demands to know the truth about WandaVision. Vision explains what Wanda did, detailing how she was consumed by grief and created the Westview Hex where Tommy and Billy were born. Vision clarifies that the Vision Tommy remembers was a creation of Wanda's magic, admitting that he himself was not that same Vision.

Back in her mindscape, Jocasta offers Ultron another drink, promising that this time it contains no virus. As Ultron drinks, he experiences a novel sensation, telling Jocasta that he feels real. Jocasta replies that she feels more artificial by the day, noting their shared desire to matter. Ultron and Jocasta kiss, fully committing to their partnership.

In our review, we said, "VisionQuest is extraordinary—a brilliantly written and masterfully acted exploration of love, loss, family, grief, and change. It shows us what it means to feel, what it means to be human, and serves as an outstanding thematic capstone to this Wanda and Vision trilogy. Existing on its own terms—unburdened by its past in WandaVision or the franchise’s upcoming December showdown, Avengers: Doomsday—the series is about Vision and Vision alone, showcasing what makes this core Avenger one of the greatest to ever do it."

Marvel Television’s “VisionQuest,” an all-new original series coming exclusively to Disney+ October 14, concludes the epic trilogy that began with 2021’s groundbreaking, award-winning “WandaVision” and 2024’s acclaimed “Agatha All Along.” Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron's influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.

Thank god for Ultron he single handily keeps this show afloat, pretty meandering affair and cannot believe they cast that horrible actor as speed
