VisionQuest Season Finale Promo Promises "One Final Surprise" — But Is It [Spoiler]?

The season finale of VisionQuest arrives on Disney+ next Tuesday, and Marvel Studios has released a 30-second TV spot promising MCU fans "one final surprise."

That's hinted at when Tommy Maximoff walks into a room full of candles; the question now is simple: who will he find waiting for him? His twin brother, Billy Maximoff, seems the most likely possibility, though there's always an outside chance that it's his mother, the Scarlet Witch.

At the end of VisionQuest's penultimate episode, The Client was finally revealed. We still don't know who Ultron's human avatar is, but there are some very compelling theories already doing the rounds.

Over the past four weeks, VisionQuest has proven itself a worthy conclusion to the WandaVision trilogy (Agatha All Along was the middle chapter), and Lauren Morais has emerged as a breakout star. When we spoke to the Lisa Molinari actress, she told us this about her potential MCU future:

"I mean, as you’ve seen in the comics, her complicated relationship with Tommy and how they wrestle with the two groups they’re in, like Dark Reign and how she questions him, he questions her. I think that’ll be such an exciting dynamic to explore. And again, what I was saying earlier about her villain and whether she actually believes in it and superheroes."

"I mean, how we started this journey of Lisa in VisionQuest being a pickpocket on the streets... I think it’s a very interesting conversation to have, and I really like the dynamic between Tommy and Lisa in the comics because it’s so complicated and it goes on such a journey. I think it’ll be so fun to see that."

Back to the finale's surprise, and regardless of whether it's Billy or Wanda, that's bound to have consequences for Avengers: Doomsday. With the Young Avengers expected to assemble in the latter, we'd bet on Speed finally meeting Wiccan.

Check out this new look at VisionQuest in the players below.

In VisionQuest, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponise him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron.

His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision's son, reincarnated. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron's influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.

VisionQuest stars Paul Bettany, James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, T'Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, with Emily Hampshire and James D'Arcy.

In our full season review, we concluded, "Paul Bettany and James Spader are masterful in VisionQuest, a staggering achievement by Marvel Studios and Terry Matalas that understands its characters, does right by them, and delivers one of the best MCU stories ever told."

Seven episodes of VisionQuest are now streaming on Disney+.

I love Terry Matalas but this show makes me think "okay." When watching it. Like we get it. All of the AI were based off of someone real and we should feel bad for them..

@bobevanz - I agree with this at the moment it seems direction less in terms of constantly reminding us of the AIs being based off someone. Episode 8 should finally give us the reason why any of it matters for Doomsday.

I am curious to see how this ties into Doomsday, of course now that Vision has accepted who is he and is in original colors, we better get him in Doomsday but the question is will he play a big role?

@SupermanFamFan -
I doubt it does. This show was originally meant to release after Avengers: Doomsday and we had concept art of Vision & Peter Quill chilling on a couch as roommates.

If he does show up in Avengers: Doomsday it'll be final battle at most, but I expect he'll be saved for Avengers: Secret Wars so they can have the reunion between him and Scarlet Witch.

@Scarilian - I bet he's saved for secret wars entirely. I think Wanda is the big reveal at the end of doomsday and then Vision will show up with the boys in secret wars.

@SummersEssex -
If we get a post-credit, I believe it is either going to be:

Option A: Thanos is shown as alive. For the general audience this would spark a ton of conversation and it confirms they intend to adapt the comic aspect regarding him.

Option B: Tobey Maguire Spider-man, Hugh Jackman Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds Deadpool teaming up to fix everything. The star power would be enough and it'd enable them to market Avengers: Secret Wars with those three as the focus enabling them to hide a lot of the surprises while still appealing to a huge audience.

I think it’s pretty much understood that Billy will show up. I doubt we see Wanda though.

I think it’s Billy. I’m curious to see how they handle this ultron avatar. I’m fine with a retcon but make it worth it and don’t diminish what came before it to prop up what’s now.

Anyway, I have vision quest just under both Agatha and WandaVision. I like that there’s a through line of grief, love, and loss through each show and we’re seeing it through multiple characters

@MyCoolYoung - I’m interested to see how they deal with the person behind Ultron’s human avatar coming into play now…

I have liked the retcon of Phineas Horton being the father of robotics and JIM being the first of the androids and then Josephine Carrington being the mother of AI with her partners which then gave Tony the template to build J.A.R.V.I.S. and his other A.I’s so hopefully this reveal makes sense and is satisfying like that has been imo.

@TheVisionary25 - I agree. I like that they didn’t necessarily tarnish Starks legacy. They just built up others legacy. Its like when his father said Tony would figure out the technology he couldn’t so there’s precedent in all of this. They’re all picking up the torch and building upon it. Pun intended.

@MyCoolYoung - yep

It’s kinda how science and tech works.

I think it'll be Billy and then the rounding of this arc will be Billy, Tommy, and Vision saving Wanda (who I'd put money on being a Latverian Witch) from Doom in Secret Wars.

@TheWinkler - this is the way.

My source tells me it’s Wanda.

I rewatched Agatha during Spooky Season and if it’s not Billy, I’m going to be pissed.

It's got to be Billy.

Bringing Wanda in is a bad idea at this point. Because bringing her in is either just a manifestation of Vision's memory of her, OR it's actually Wanda but they don't have enough time to explain how she's there. They need to save that reveal for Doomsday.

Cool , some fun glimpses of the finale in there imo…

Anyway , this surprise will likely be Billy since he’s already been looking for Tommy rather then Wanda since that would require a lot of explanation that the episode may not have time for even though it’s suppose to be an hour or so long.

The show has been quite good thus far so can’t wait for the finale!!.
