Netflix has announced that production on the third season of Wednesday has wrapped (filming took place in Paris and Dublin), and we have a new look at Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams typing out her no-doubt macabre thoughts.

Will season 3 be the show's last? Netflix hasn't announced anything, but Jenny Ayumi, Ortega's longtime stunt double on the series, shared a couple of since-deleted Instagram posts that would seem to indicate that her time on Wednesday has come to an end.

Last year, we learned that Eva Green (Casino Royale, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Dark Shadows) had joined the season 3 cast in a series regular role as Aunt Ophelia.

Season 2 concluded with the brief introduction of the sister of Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia Addams, Ophelia Frump, but the character was only glimpsed from the back. There was a lot of speculation that Lady Gaga’s Rosalyn Rottwood would ultimately be unveiled as Wednesday's mysterious aunt.

"Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen — elegant, haunting and beautifully unpredictable. Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia," co-creators and co-showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar said in a statement. "We're excited to see how she transforms the role and expands Wednesday's world."

Green added, "I'm thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world, I can't wait to bring my own touch of cuckooness to the Addams family."

In season 2, we learned that Ophelia was committed to the Willow Hill psychiatric facility by her mother, Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley), before ultimately managing to escape. When Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) reads Ophelia’s journal, she sees a vision of her aunt wearing a red dress and writing on the wall in blood: “Wednesday must die.”

"Ophelia has been gone a long time," said Millar in a recent interview. "It’s left a hole in Morticia’s life, and a lot of unanswered questions. The re-emergence of Ophelia is going to hit this family like a bomb."

In the S2 finale, Wednesday set off with her Uncle Fester to rescue Enid from being trapped as an alpha werewolf.

The cast also includes Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Joanna Lumley and Andrew McCarthy.

Winona Ryder will have an undisclosed guest role, alongside fellow newcomers Lena Headey, James Lance, Oscar Morgan, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor and Kennedy Moyer.

In a perfect world, Eva Green should've been Morticia and Oscar Isaac Gomez Addams.

Man , I enjoyed S1 but I couldn’t get around to S2 so would have to check that out before season 3 comes out…

Plus this season has Eva Green in it so that makes it a must watch for me!!.

I thought they were never gonna do a season 3. I enjoyed the first two. I look forward to more Adam’s family shenanigans. This show isn’t amazing but it’s fun and feels like some good old Burtonesque entertainment.

Another show that just loses all momentum year after year. Could’ve been much more if they actually capitalized any time anyone cared or when it mattered.
