Part of what made the first season of Stranger Things so captivating was the way the mystery surrounding Will Byes’ disappearance and Eleven’s powers unfolded. And while we got some closure during last year’s finale, there are still lots of unanswered questions fans are hoping get addressed in the coming seasons.

Here are five questions that I hope are answered in Stranger Things 2

What’s Up With The Upside Down?

The reveal of the Upside Down was one of the coolest moments of season 1. Since the cold, dark alternate dimension contains the same locations as the human world, it is possible that, as YouTuber Alt Shift X theorized in one of his videos, that the Upside Down exists as a snapshot of how the world looked when Eleven opened the gate.

There has been no confirmation of how long the Upside Down has existed, and it would be interesting to see the lore of this dimension expanded upon. The eggs that were shown during the finale are also a hot topic of speculation. Even though the Demogorgon was seen feasting on them, it is still possible that the monster laid them as well. Alternately, they could belong to another creature, perhaps this season’s new villain. Since the season 2 tagline is “The World Is Turning Upside Down,” it’s a pretty safe bet that we’re gonna see more this place in the new episodes.

Is The Demogorgon Really Gone?

One interesting fan theory is that Eleven and the Demogorgon are one and the same. When Eleven tells Mike that she is “the monster” in Episode 6, I thought it was simply to show the guilt she feels for Will's disappearance. However, several theorists have interpreted this line in a much more literal sense, concluding that the Demogorgon is actually intrinsically connected to Eleven. Perhaps this means that Eleven cannot kill the Demogorgon without also killing herself. However, since Eleven can be seen in the promotional materials for season 2, this isn’t likely.

It is possible that after Eleven seemingly destroyed the monster in the season 1 finale, the Demogorgon took form in Eleven’s body, and that Millie Bobby Brown will be playing a combination of the monster and the Eleven we know and love this season. This would be quite a shock to audiences, but given how sinister Eleven looks in the latest trailer, it is certainly possible that she could be this season's villain.

Is Will Imagining Things?

Showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer have teased that there will be some ambiguity about Will Byers’ visions this season. While the season 1 finale and the first trailer for season 2 showed Will flashing in and out of the Upside Down, it is unclear whether or not this is all part of his imagination. While the slug-like thing he coughed up was probably real, we don’t know how much of what Will has been going through is physical and how much is psychological.

There’s a good chance Will is going to play a big part in taking on the big bad, whatever it might be, so it will be interesting to see how he copes with the traumatic experiences he went through in the Upside Down.

Are Jonathan and Nancy Going to Hook Up?

Enough of these theories about the Upside Down and Eleven. Let’s get to what really matters here—teen romance. The love triangle between Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, and Jonathan Byers seemed like it was going to go the cliched direction last season, but instead of ending up with the outcast photographer, Nancy chose the popular dude with the cool hair.

However, the second trailer for the new season potentially teases a change of heart. Nancy and Jonathan are seen lying in separate beds next to each other, with Nancy saying “don’t you think it’s weird that we only seem to hang out when the world’s about to end?”

While the two might just remain friends, we can expect some tension between Nancy, Jonathan and Steve once they all get together again.

Is Barb Going to Return?

Just kidding. She’s definitely dead.

Have you watch the second season? I thought it was a solid 8/10 where I thought season one was a 9/10!
