Netflix has yet to release a teaser for the upcoming second season of The Witcher, but they have shared a funny "Witchmas" holiday video featuring shots from season 1.
The footage has been given a Christmas makeover, with Santa hats, lights, presents, reindeer antlers and the like, as the usually pretty grouchy Geralt (Henry Cavill) is even more belligerent about having to partake in seasonal cheer. Of course, there is one aspect of The Holidays that The Witcher does enjoy: the slaying!
Check out the hilariously gruesome promo below, and keep an eye out for that season 2 trailer which should be with us any day now.
"Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen," it reveals. "While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside."
Netflix recently halted production on The Witcher again after several positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed. The second season of the adult fantasy adventure series had been shooting at Arborfield Studios in West London, but cameras stopped rolling when four tests came back positive. Shooting is expected to resume once the showrunners decide the set is safe to work on again.
The Witcher Season 2 is set to premiere sometime next year, and will also see the return of Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as the sublimely irritating Jaskier.
New additions to the cast include Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, and Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel.
