A new trailer for season 2 of The Witcher has been released, and it offers a great idea of what to expect when the show returns this December. Following a first batch of episodes that occasionally became a tad confusing thanks to all those different timelines, it appears the series is going to follow the games even closer this time by pitting Henry Cavill's Geralt (and Ciri) against a lot of monsters.

Their partnership is also highlighted on a poster, and seeing their bond develop promises to be a highlight when The Witcher returns to Netflix. For those of you anxious to learn what the future holds in store for Yennefer, though, this sneak peek also contains some big hints about where we find the powerful sorceress.

Among the creatures highlighted here are Vereena the bruxa, Nivellen, and the Leshen.

"Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen," reads the synopsis. "While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside."

Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), and Joey Batey (Jaskier) are all set to return for the second season, alongside series newcomers Yasen Atour as the Witcher Coen, Agnes Bjorn as the bruxa Vereena, Paul Bullion as the Witcher Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen as the Witcher Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, and Mecia Simson as Francesca.

All episodes of The Witcher season 2 arrive on Netflix on December 17 (the same day Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters). Check out this awesome new trailer and poster below:

Cavill looks so badass. This is the legacy role for him. Looks great and can't wait!

@KingLeonidas - I've just started reading the book series, based on the fact that I really liked season 1.
Looking forward to season 2, as we can now really start getting into the grand schemes of the books with a sprinkling of a couple more short stories from the first 2 books.
Cavil is great casting for this role - hoping for lots of epic sword play.

Looks like they definitely got a budget bump this season. Looking forward to this. First season had some issues but I enjoyed it and if they can iron them out, Netflix could have something great on their hands

Watching Cavill prosper without being superman is like watching that nerdy guy get dumped by the hot chick then years later that same guy grows up to be a chad and the woman that dumped him is 400lbs over weight with 5 kids and single🙃...

CAVILL DESERVES THE WORLD!

Brings me flashbacks of Thanksgiving with the in-laws. Wish me luck next month.

My main complaint (just like that of many others) with the first season was that it didn't really have an overarching story and tried to make up for that with it's convulated narrative. Feels like that has changed and now I can really get invested in it

There's a timeline out there where this is an HBO tv series, with a proper budget and VFX and the next GoT for them HBO guys instead o more GoT spinoffs.

Could say the same thing for Sandman but in that case i can't help thinking about Watchmen and...eeehhh.

I actually do like it, but i don't find myself loving it tbh.
Lindelof nailed how one should tackle the race subject, amazing writing on his part but when it comes to the comicbooky stuff?
Ehhh, not really...

Casting Jeremy Irons as Adrian is a God-tier casting and wasting him as a slapstick villain was A Lifelong Mistake.

Really bad choice of music for a witcher trailer, other than that it looks good.

I'm from Poland and as a big Withcer fan I'm so happy that our culture goes all over the world thanks to Witcher, in here we love international content and we are waiting for Spider-Man, theorising about future marvel projects but it feels great to give something in return to worldwide popculture

S1 had some fun moments despite its faults. Looking forward to it.

Niice. Happy to see the color isn't so washed out like the first season. That higher budget is looking really good.

The show looks great again but I don't understand how they keep getting the Armour so wrong, looks horrible
hummingbird68
hummingbird68 - 10/29/2021, 12:56 PM
@JakeyChappers - As far as I know the series is based more on the books (which came first) rather than the games. So things like Tris Merrigold's hair colour which is described auburn in the books, rather than the startling red in the games are always gonna happen. I agree the armour looks off, but its not a big thing for me having not played the games and seen a different interpretation.

Good stuff. I really enjoyed most of the first season, so I'm looking for to this for sure. That trailer music was... a choice.

That looked pretty good !

I'll have to rewatch S1. I've only played the third game, so I didn't know the story, and all the timeline-jumping got me lost, continuity wise.
