After eight seasons of playing the fan-favorite Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, Ian Somerhalder is ready for a new kind of vampire horror story in Netflix's V-Wars, except this time, he won't be playing the vampire.
He'll instead be playing Dr. Luther Swann, who finds himself caught up in a horrifying new kind of war after a mysterious disease transforms his best friend Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes) into a blood-sucking alpha predator who lives off killing other humans. While society begins to fall apart due to the viral outbrak, Swann tries to make sense of what's happened and how to save humanity and his friend, who's ascended to a position of leadership amongst the newborn vampires.
In addition to Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries) and Adrian Holmes (Arrow), the main cast will also feature Peter Outerbridge (The Umbrella Academy), Laura Vandervoort (Smallville), Kyle Breitkopf (Wonder), Jacky Lai (Shadowhunters) and Kimberly-Sue Murray (Shadowhunters).
The series, which is based on Jonathan Maberry's best-selling comic of the same name, will premiere on the streaming giant on Thursday, December 5.

V-Wars follows the story of a scientist and his best friend, as they face the evolving crisis of a deadly outbreak, that fractures society into opposing factions, potentially escalating to a future war between humans and vampires.
