AHSOKA TV Spot Sees Ahsoka Tano Train Sabine Wren As The Threat Of Thrawn's Empire Looms Large

The latest TV spot for Ahsoka sees Ahsoka Tano train Sabine Wren, but is the Mandalorian now a Jedi? Along with plenty of lightsaber action, there are also hints about the Empire's impending return...

A new TV spot for Ahsoka has been released (via SFFGazette.com), and it appears to confirm recent theories that Sabine Wren will be Ahsoka Tano's Padawan in the Star Wars Rebels follow-up.

While the Mandalorian previously proved herself more than capable of wielding the Darksaber, she now has the missing Ezra Bridger's lightsaber and seems surprisingly adept with it. It's possible Ahsoka is just showing her how to use the weapon, but that's not the impression this and other sneak peeks have given.

We know you need to be more than just talented with a blade to use a lightsaber in a proficient manner and we see Sabine taking on the villainous Shin Hati as Ahsoka battles that mysterious Sith Inquisitor in the distance. This likely confirms he's in cahoots with Shin and her Master, Ray Stevenson's Baylan Skoll.

Elsewhere in the preview, Hera Syndulla attempts to raise the alarm about the threat the Empire still poses to the Galaxy, even after their defeat in Return of the Jedi. Whether she knows Grand Admiral Thrawn is the one pulling the strings remains to be seen, of course.

Take a look at this new Ahsoka TV spot in the players below.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23 with a two-episode premiere.

I don't believe Sabine is force sensitive. Just a Mandalorian who can use a lightsaber.

What is the reason to watch? The Empire might be coming back? The same Empire that was rendered into Roscoe & Enos in Return Of The Jedi? The same [frick]s who had two Death Stars and a massive army and still lost? HAHAHA! Real concerned about their return.

Old Republic turns into an Empire and then Thrawn's Empire exists between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens". The beings of the Star Wars universe are really bad with their galactic governments.

That mysterious Sith Inquisitor is the one character people aren't paying attention if you ask me. Everyone's talking about Sabine being taken under Ahsoka's wing and it's true that matters, but I think it's also what the marketing team wants the fandom to focus on and if that's true then they're succeeding.

And the fact that Sabine is using Ezra's green lightsaber and we still don't have any clue of who that Inquisitor could be (they don't even have their own poster for example) raises to me some red flags that it might turn out to be Ezra himself. He flirted quite a bit with the dark side of the Force in Rebels so maybe he gave in once he went into hyperspace with Thrawn at the end of Rebels.
