STAR WARS: Disney+ Adding Genndy Tartakovsky CLONE WARS, Boba Fett's Animated Debut, And More In April

It's been confirmed that Disney+ is adding a lot of Star Wars content from the archives, including Genndy Tartakovsky's beloved Star Wars: Clone Wars, The Story Of The Faithful Wookiee, and more...

Well, this is a pleasant surprise for fans of the Galaxy Far, Far Away!

According to A.V. Club, Disney+ is releasing a lot of great Star Wars content from the Lucasfilm vault on the streaming service starting April 2nd. 1984's Caravan Of Courage: An Ewok Adventure, its sequel Ewoks: The Battle Of Endor, and the two-season animated series Star Wars: Ewoks from 1985 will all be added, though they are far from the biggest surprises.

Animated short The Story Of The Faithful Wookiee, which originally aired as part of the now infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, is also coming to Disney+. That features the first appearance of Boba Fett, and it's something which has only ever been available as an extra on Star Wars DVDs and Blu-rays.

Some of what was seen in that short inspired The Mandalorian (including Din Djarin's primary weapon), and while this doesn't necessarily mean we'll get to see that full "Holiday Special," here's hoping!

Finally, for fans of The Clone Wars, it's also been confirmed that Genndy Tartakovsky's beloved Star Wars: Clone Wars animated shorts are going to hit the streamer. They came out before the long-running series, and feature a unique style and stories which really excited a lot of fans at the time they were released.

The Bad Batch and The Book of Boba Fett are also set to be released on Disney+ later this year.

The original Clone Wars was the shit back in the day... I like the newer Clone Wars but is a damn shame that we couldn't have more of the 2D one. I guess Disney+ will have to add a non-canon section now.

I can tell you right now we won't be getting the original "The Star Wars Holiday Special" simply because there has never been an official release of the special due to the fact that George Lucas himself doesn't like the special and the same goes for many of the cast and crew that either made the special or starred in the original Star Wars film trilogy franchise so basically don't expect "The Star Wars Holiday Special" to be popping up / appearing on Disney + at al in my opinion because it simply won't happen in my opinion.

@batman001 - would take it as an insult if they officially release the Holiday Special. And I don't think Disney wants to be associated with it anyway. I know I wouldn't

@batman001 - Disney has the power to change anything. The original version of star wars can be seen at major film institutions when reserved. Disney can get a copy of that, remaster it in 4k, then release it on D+ because they own SW. Its not even a matter of principle, its a matter of time and "when".

Lucas knows he sold it to white slavers and thats his fault. The OG characters & trilogy are no longer sacred. they are cash cow for disney. Lucas never wanted any of his characters to appear on TV without his authorization and they just Deep Faked luke skywalker in Mandalorian, they dont care what he thinks anymore.

@bkmeijer - Why would I take it as insult I merely stated an opinion.

@mastakilla39 - Yes however I don't think there are any copies of "The Star Wars Holiday Special" since the only copies out there are bootlegged copies taken from the night that the special first aired in the 1970's but I could be wrong tho.

@batman001 - oh sorry, I meant that I would take it as insult

Gonna skip all the Ewok stuff, but I am gonna check out Clone Wars and the Faithful Wookie when I get the chance.

I 100% get why they won't add the Holiday Special, but I do wonder why the animated part. Guess it's because Boba Fett is pretty hot right now.

Fuq the Holiday Special. Like you can't truly know how awful it is if you haven't seen it lol
Anyway, the TRU Clone Wars is coming, and I'm stoked. That show should've been the basis for the movies. Hell, even the Grievous was better. I remember watching the cartoon and being wildly disappointed how neutered he was in ROTS.

I would have prefered the whole Holiday Special. Sure it wasn't good, but it's a part of the history of both Star Wars and television and everyone should be able to watch it and make their own judgement by themselves.

Yous all crazy. Star Wars Holiday Special is an amazing example of So Bad It's Good.

How does that expression not make you laugh?

@Reeds2Much - At least, he brings a smile on his face. All he needed was finding a good laugh to have a successful career in voiceacting.
